If Butler goes, we are stuck with Joey Porter as our Defensive Coordinator.

Does that sound good to anyone?

I think butler is done. This chiefs games iced it. The results are bad in the last two home losses but he was really exposed on one play.

Pretty sure it was the second kelce TD. Two wides and kelce weakside. 2 CB that side. Looks like man coverage or a hybrid. Edmunds drops to help the corners which leaves kelce completely uncovered on the hash.

Some might blame edmunds there but this either by design or butler has too many options in there. How could you possibly not cover their #1 target in the exact spot where they would go to him? There’s no other assignment than cover fucking kelce.

I said it about lebeau when what’s his name ran 98 yards in the QB bootleg that that was the play that end lebeaus time at DC. Steelers never do anything sudden but butler is out after the season

Wait...so you're saying the rookie didn't fuck up and he actually did what he was told?

I'm sorry but I have to call bullshit on that one. It doesn't even make sense.

Yes I’m saying it’s such a poor call in that situation that a “rookie mistake” doesn’t absolve butler. If edmunds wasn’t clear his responsibility was kelce that’s on butler.

I mean kelce catches the TD almost exactly where edmunds starts the play. It boggles the mind how badly the defense is “coordinated”. Like butler is playing a different game or something.

My prediction is Steelers d unfortunately gives up another 40 point game, might be 50, might even be 60. They’re breaking every record in sight. Art 2 will invent some hobby that butler needs to attend to

The Steelers problems are vast on defense.

One of the Steelers biggest problems against the Chiefs was 32 million dollars of cap space not on the field

You talking Lev?

I think there is a disconnect between the Steelers FO and coaching staff. The FO seemingly envisaged moving away from basic 3-4 and utilizing more hybrid safeties to replace Shazier. Seems the coaches seemingly had Bostic and Williams on the field for a lot of snaps.

I’m going to ask a simple question...
Have any of you ever seen a worse display of defensive football than what went on in Heinz Field yesterday?

Should have fired both their asses after Jax.

Except Shaz and Bumblin’ had his fingers all over the disaster.

Yes: the Jax playoff loss.

That was bad...I think yesterday was worse. But why quibble...

The Jax loss last year and the Green Bay game in 09 come to mind

Thats one lame excuse for the defense sucking so bad. The 2 guys missing on offense had zero to do with the defense, we knew 1 guy was out all year and had a full off season to prepare and 1 guy was hurt which happens to EVERY team in the NFL.

BTW, Foster was abused yesterday you know who flew under the radar??? Finney at RG. When he played center he was very very solid. Why we paying an above average center $11MM a year when we could use Finney at center and that money on our horrific defense??? Colbert???

The game in which the Patriots scored 55 against the Steelers was pretty damn bad as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCeCO6CcUY8

The Steelers' D has been in rebuilding mode since 2012 and there's little to show for it. We've had 6 straight Defensive 1st round picks with little to show for it (although Shazier was living up to his draft billing and Watt still looks promising). There needs to be wholesale changes on the defensive side of the ball.

I made no excuses...I stated a matter of fact. Also I did not include in Shazier.

Decastro Haden and Bell make up the 32 million dollars.

Haden has missed how many games? Injuries do occur....30% of the cap out of the lineup sure didn't help things

BTW Finney was brutally bad.

More likely Patricia goes back to NE but still more likely than Dungy coming out of retirement.

Porter should have been jettisoned a long time ago. Didn't like him as a player, despise him as a coach. A fuckin' loudmouth who shined a few times as a player. Was totally non-existent as a player after SB XL.

Butler should have been shown the door last night along with Danny Smith and Berry.

Heating up? After yesterday’s debacle his ass is burnt to a crisp
Butler and the entire defensive staff should’ve been fired 5 minutes after the playoff loss to the Jags.
But he’s not going anywhere.
Tomlin’s carrying his baby.

Thing is, how long does Butler get after being promised the job and having to wait all those years?

I know it shouldn't matter, but you know Deuce doesn't see it that way. IMO, 3 years is more than fair.

Are you asking any NFL team? I have seen the 49ers do this in the late 80s early 90s probably a half dozen times to teams like the Rams. The west coast offense was like a machine...fun to watch.

On SNF I have seen the Steelers get mauled by the Pats as well as the Anthony Switchblade Smith game up in Foxboro.

Here is the thing ...and I know I cant be the first to notice that...but those receivers were open by 3-5 yards...not ot take anything away from a kid who is in a hostile environment and was virtually unstoppable.

Maybe if the family tells him to fire or "retire" someone and he says no.
