maddening, frustrating, perplexing.

The man will never get it.
Connor had 32 carries for the entire 2017 season, which is a miss use to start with.
Then to give him 31 carries in a season opening, ground and pound, muddler type game......which then goes into OT.

And 36 total touches........including a good shot to his shin.

Imagine what a fresh set of legs could have given us at the RB spot in the 4th, in OT.
Would that have made a difference? Whether it was Ridley or Samuels.
Or it could have actually been back to Connor in OT..........if during the course of the game Ridley had seen 12-15 snaps to keep JC fresh.
And then JC has a renewed energy come last drive or two of 4th Q and OT.

If Connor gets dinging, and he did during this game, will Ridley, then be the 90%+ every RB snap back.

Ridley had a 4 snap game. All on ST's.
Will Ridley be ready in an instant. Or would it be smart coaching and planning to incorporate him in with 12-15 offensive snaps and 5-6 carries a game, to get him up to game speed.

Including Connor, only 6 backs in the NFL had more than 80% of all offensive snaps on their teams.
Only other two players over 90%, as expected.

Gurley and Elliot.

Two players that have been used to such a work load.
yet those two players saw nowhere near the workload that Connor saw.

and all the players with over 80 % of offensive snaps, saw a dozen less touches to 1/2 the touches or less.

Connor 31 /5 = 36
Gurley 20 carries / 3 catches = 23 touches.
Dalvin Cook 16 / 6 = 22
Ez. Elliot 15 / 3 = 18
Alvin Kamara 8 / 9 = 17
Christian McCaffrey 10 / 6 = 16

I know I am just ranting about the mentality that has existing under Tomlin for ignorantly and comically far too long..........

So I will ask this.

I am also a big baseball fan. So much talk over the last 5-10+ years or so has been about Sabermetrics.
The empirical analysis of baseball, especially baseball statistics that measure in-game activity.
Its was developed in the early 70's but became more prominent with the Oakland A's and Billy Bean in the late 90's

The question then goes to,
Don't the Steelers have a guy in the organization that looks at all of this.
Who is our Billy Beane, our Ernie Adams?
That can spot the miss use, over use, under use.
The best spots for what players, the best mis-matches for each game, each quarter, each game time situation, each play.
Someone behind the scenes, up in the booth, standing next to Fichner or Tomlin.
Can be the same guy that tells the coaches when to call a time out, or holds the time out chart / matrix.

Or do we just keep doing what we do.
The standard is the standard.

But since the standard has failed time and time again.
I will assume there is no such person in the organization.

We have our Omar kahn for the financial end.
Where is our brain for the Gridironmatrics

who's the hack reporter that does the fan Q&A that a Fury poster took over? Someone ask him the legit question of Why Tomlin does this and why don't you ask him at the presser what the fuck his strategy is?

According to Fichtner, it was on him (Fichtner) and he knows he has to get some other backs in there.

And so we officially enter the ‘Blame Fichtner’ years.

Maybe Tomlin should keep an eye on his rookie OC and make sure he doesnt accidentally start Conner at QB on Sunday.

Mike Tomlin does not concern himself with such trivial details

Haha. Truth. The only thing on Mike’s mind is the New England game. Everything else is meaningless.

So, in other words, he's just like every other Steelers fan?
