He says it was wrong to call roughing the passer on Myles Garrett.

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/2463 ... lled-error

I have to admit...I agree with him. Called a tick tack but I'll take it call when it happened.

I can't stand the fuckboy Riveron but if you want to bring up mistakes you may as well talk about the punt while you are at it and say we fucked up that call as well. They may as well say they should not have called Watt for the hit on Taylor when he spun out of the swarm of bodies in the pocket too.

Watt penalty was a bad call...official should have seen Watt's view of the play was screened and it was very difficult to hear the whistle....there was no way Watt really could have known the play was dead when he made his move to tackle.

I notice that the one replay I can't find anywhere is the punt that hit the player's mask. I'm sure it hit him but was also 100% sure the call that it didn't would not be overturned.

when I saw the replay again last night it still looks like it hit the brown player but I agree it never was getting overturned especially when they said the ball never changed

I may be wrong, but my understanding of the Watt penalty is that it was for contacting the helmet, not being late. that's why he was awarded 4 sacks in the stats. that penalty doesnt erase the sack, getting there after the play would have. I was screaming he was already targeting the qb before the ref put his arm up, and I didn't hear a whistle...thought it was a bullshit flag, but then I could've sworn somebody in the booth explained it was for the helmet contact and not for being late. which makes sense because he got credit for the sack, didn't he?

I honestly didn't think this was as egregious a miscall as it's being made out to be.

It strikes me as run-of-the-mill ticky-tacky rather than Grady Jarrett/Nick Foles-level BS.

My initial reaction upon seeing the replay was that Myles had time to avoid the hit entirely, but even watching again now and seeing that the sequence of events was a little tighter...it still strikes me as essentially a judgement call. There are flimsier calls in most games.

Arians even brought that one up when the other analysts failed to, but they acted as if they didn't even hear him.

Agreed Chidi. Look, I hate the way the games are called these days, but in this situation the ball was already out of Ben’s hands. I’m not saying that is easy for Garrett to decipher when he is sprinting at Ben to make a play, but there is always the option to try and hit Ben without driving him to the ground without your entire body weight falling on top of him.

And even that is really hard to do, and puts a tremendous amount of responsibility on the defensive player. It may have been called “wrong” per Rivieron, but if the league has two options 1. Protect the star QBs at all costs, no matter what, and no matter how much responsibility it puts on the defensive player or 2. Let them do whatever they want to the QB even if it results in broken collarbones and lost seasons, well I understand why they go with option 1.

Can’t believe they didn call that. Hines Ward made that a penalty.

I thought the Hargrave call was pretty ticky tack as well.

Maybe if Dupree had faked injury like Burfict did it would have been flagged.

I was thinking that our old buddy Alberto was referring to Steeler Al but perhaps, he doesn't have internet access where he's at.

The pic of Steeler Al and the cactus is classic. Dollars to donuts, someone here has it. Also the photoshopped pic of him at SB XXX.

I think KC has some or at least has posted them before. Then there was the dual hang gliding one that looks like he is taking from the back side in mid air.

The whole I am an author meanwhile the book is published by a self printing internet company.

Steeler Al's student card was very popular, too with its child molester imprint. The site was howling for weeks after Al posted a photo of his Thailand trip that included him with his local underage boyfriend & then someone posted the student card.

SNR...

Tunch talked about the league removing the big hits means we will see more DB's making plays on the ball. Thought that was interesting.

Atrocious.

Didn't read the entire thread, but when the announcers were even talking about the call on Pouncy not being worth a call.

I admit I was irate and screaming profanities at the tv and inched a little further down the road of losing my love for this game.

Shit that's blatant to me just makes me think it's rigged entertainment.

Speaking of missing posters, I miss Mean Joe.

I find myself hoping he hasn't passed from this life.
