Of course, if we don't deploy them, they don't matter.

here's to another season with Matakevich and LJ Fort being the ILB backups and Sean Davis trying to cover Gronk.

Because Tomlin

I think Gronk is going to start to slow down. His injuries are adding up and I dont think his heart is in this anymore. He wants to be able to enjoy his millions and live like Dan Bilzerian IMO.

That being said, he is still the most dominant athlete on any field he steps on. People talking about having a guy to cover him is like talking about having a guy to cover Antonio Brown. It ain’t happening! It takes a village.

We acquired a village. 4-5 guys (depending on this Matthew Thomas) that are huge upgrades from their predecessors: Burnett over Mitchell, Edmunds over Gay, Allen/Berhl over Golden, Bstic over Spence, hopefully Thomas over Fort, hell Allen over Dangerfield/Fort whomever.

All we are doing is catching onto what that patriots have been doing for a few years. They have been a base three safety look since their resurgence in 2014.

Well if the Eagles are for real; I think they are one and done; they have a pretty insane TE Corp now too, so if they make it back and we manage the same it would be nice to know that Gronk, Ertz and Goedert could be contained.

Hold on a tick...

Disparaging words about Steelers' coaching and personnel decisions from B2B?!
:o

Who'da thunk :?: :!:

Hey B2B: Bonus points if you can tell us who's been ultimately responsible FOR YEARS for such
Tom(lin) Foolery...

I've watched some Marcus Allen highlights on Youtube - if those were the highlights - we need a new member in the platoon. He does not impress me.

I believe the iggles r for real. They will continue to win football games for a while

I also believe this is all talk and the steelers will be more of the same this year.
They have always used a playmaker like Troy and shazier. In the near term they dint have one anymore. They couldn't find a new ILB in the draft and also needed a S as S play has been poor on this team for some time. so they took a chance on a big S. Unless Dupree steps up and watt keeps moving forward I think the D will struggle. They will struggle to stop physical Offense s again and high level passing games. They will beat shitty qbs which our division is full of so they can win the division

This is where I'm at. Now I don't know what the plan is or where they view Allen and Edmunds in the whole defense dynamic. That said, ST's should be better equipped this season.

Marcus Allen is the only draft pick I really hate. ST is the best he can be in the NFL. I seriously doubt he makes the 53

Really the things he has going for him:
1. Lifelong Steelers fan whose dream is to play for them— a la BJ Finney. Maybe he is more motivated in some important ways?
2. He’s young— possibility he will grow into a good player
3. He can tackle

Exactly B2B, why I stated the ST's comment.

Yeah, I think he's the annual pick given to STs.

I have to believe Keion Adams, Tyler Matakevich, Matthew Thomas, Olasunkanmi Adeniyi, Nat Berhe, Marcus Allen, Jamar Summers, Brian Allen, Damoun Patterson, Quadree Henderson and Jaylen Samuels are all gonna play ST's and beast out at it.

I'll be shocked if Adeniyi or Henderson make the team.

But I do think STs is going to be fully loaded this year.

What is depressing, is that we do indeed have a lot of great young, DEFENSIVE, talent that would be great on special teams this year but...

... the Steelers will probably keep at least one of those players inactive so that Darius Hayward-Bey can get a helmet on Sunday.

Brian Allen should not be inactive for Bey.

Matthew Thomas should not be inactive for Bey.

Whoever our 6th D-linemen ends up being, Frazier/Gilmore etc, if somebody does emerge that is a quality run stuffer, should not be inactive for Bey.

If you give me 3 wishes, one of those wishes is that we cut Bey. You save $1.2 million and you give one of those younger players a chance to develop, sometimes a vet can impede progress, special teams can be a way for a young player/rookie to gain confidence and get acclimated to the NFL game faster. Bey is just in the way and is not head and shoulders above say a Brian Allen. Allen can do what Bey can do and can help on defense. Cam Sutton can do what Bey can do and actually be a return man and help on defense.

If Marcus Allen can replace DHB that would be a success. Brian Allen is already one of the better gunners.
