Looks like a bigger roster this time. Is there a certain number [limit] to how many rookies tryout for the Steelers?

Started researching some of the unknowns as I always do.

Quote:
Malik Boynton dominated the competition at Austin Peay State University, so much so that he was allowed to take part in Vanderbilt's Pro Day on Wednesday.

The Steelers were one of several teams to meet with Boynton, who lined up at both safety and cornerback during his collegiate career. https://247sports.com/nfl/pittsburgh-st ... -116262021

Sometimes a thread just makes you smile.

Actually, hoping Washington pans out and keeps 13. Like the number, might actually think about a jersey purchase (was going to be Harrison, but I'm not sure I'm totally forgiving of last season).

I think there’s a path for Tyler Palka to make this team. I’ll bet he makes practice squad at worst. He’s a nearly 6’2” 200lb slot receiver with great body control, the route/reading coverage knowledge of a former QB, return skills. I hope he gets a real chance.

AB-JuJu-Washington... then what? Justin Hunter? Marcus Tucker? Is Rogers even under contract coming off an ACL? At least one of these out of nowhere WRs is going to make the roster.

Selfishly (and because of diminishing/lackluster returns from Brown/anybody else in the PR game), I'm hoping one of those slots goes to Quadree.

I'll say that TVS is going to dictate one of Hunter or Hey-Bey making the team, which probably leaves one more roster spot open. If Hunter takes the TVS slot, WR5 better be a teams contributor somehow. If Hey-Bey makes it, maybe less so?

Hey-Bey is unsigned, right?

I hope we get to see Dree Henderson and Palka compete for a job. That might be a very healthy competition.

Bey appeared on the roster on Steelers.com, which had all the rookies and FA's with correct numbers, so I assumed it was up to date. I didn't think he was being paid, either; but, then again, the RFA's aren't exactly making a ton, either, at this point.

And, particularly after looking at the video, will be a fun competition. They bring different sets of skills to the table, for sure. Bill Parcells would refer to this as a a pet cat fight.

Tyler Palka? Palko? I can only assume there is a Tyler Palke out there somewhere.

Yes. I can only imagine when he introduces himself to people around the city there will be some double takes and "say agains" Tyler Palko isn't exactly a common name and he was about as big a name as it gets in HS football and then playing at Pitt (not for all the same reasons).

49-O Scotland-Williamson, Christian TE 6-9 274 R Loughborough U.

That's a big TE

It turns out that he is a rugby player from the UK. Should be interesting to watch.

I read somewhere that the steelers have taken rugby players twice before. Neither made the team.

You should see the D3 and NAIA guys.

Actually, I'll bet Gannon, on average, played vs better players than the Ivy league guys do. Ivy League is technically higher division, but... yikes.
