Lmao. True, they sure will. I can already picture our draft chat going bezerk.

They had dinner with Artie Burns, IIRC. Tombert was at his pro day, too.

JANE, YOU IGNORANT SLUT.

My counter point:

SP wrote:
Here is my list

LB Leighton Vander Esch, Boise State 20% chance
They’ve shown him a ton of interest, position of need, and likely to be available

LONG GONE BEFORE 28. TOP 20 PICK.

LB Rashaan Evans Alabama 15% chance
Similar to Vander Esch, except not quite as much interest shown.

JARVIS JONES 2.0. WOULD THEY DO THAT TO THEMSELVES AGAIN?

S Ronnie Harrison Alabama 15% chance
They need a safety and have shown interest. He may be the best DB available

SAFE CHOICE BUT HE'S NOT AS GOOD AS MORGAN BURNETT AND PROBABLY NOT GOING TO BE A FS, SO SEAN DAVIS IS STILL THE WEAKEST LINK ON THE DEFENSE.

S Justin Reid Stanford 15% chance
A ton of interest shown, won’t make it to their second pick. I could see it.

EXTREMELY DOUBTFUL. THEY SHOWED SO MUCH MORE INTEREST IN JESSE BATES, AND BATES FITS THEIR NEEDS MUCH BETTER. REID REMINDS ME A LOT OF DAVIS/MITCHELL, IN TERMS OF HITTING VS TACKLING, BRAIN FARTS, POOR ANGLES, ETC

QB Lamar Jackson, Louisville 7.5%
Colbert has personally gone to Louisville games 3 years in a row. I think this is a very real possibility

IF THEY TAKE A QB (STUPID) IT WOULDN'T SURPRISE ME IF IT WAS ONE OF THESE TWO THEY SEEM TO GENUINELY LIKE.

QB Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State 7.5%
Colbert and Tomlin have shown a ton on interest. Tomlin thinking about his long term future might want to have his next QB on the roster now. Call it job stability.

RB Darius Guice, LSU 5% chance
Top flight bell cow back. Makes Bell expendable.

I THINK THIS ONE IS A MUCH HIGHER LIKELIHOOD... THEY HAD DINNER WITH HIM AND BELL IS AS GOOD AS GONE AFTER 2018. DRAFTING FOR NEXT YEAR IS WHAT GOOD FRANCHISES DO.

CB Jaire Alexander, Louisville 5%
Again, the team has scouted the shit out of Louisville recently. I think Alexander is long gone, but if he falls they pounce.

AGREE WITH THIS WHOLEHEARTEDLY

Other 10%
Ziggy Hood, Rashard Mendenhall, Artie Burns. Sometimes they pick a player out of left field they didn’t show much interest in. Rarely, but it happens.

ZIGGY IS THE ONLY ONE IN A REALLY LONG TIME THAT DIDN'T GET AT LEAST A PRO DAY VISIT FROM TOMBERT, IF NOT A PRO DAY VISIT AND PRIVATE DINNER.

TO ME, BATES IS THE ARTIE BURNS PICK... THE ONE NO ONE EXPECTED IN ROUND 1 BUT THE STEELERS PICKED ANYWAY. BEST FIT AT A POSITION OF EXTREME NEED.

Today's Kiper mock has us taking Calvin Ridley.

Tomlin nor Colbert went to pro day and or had private dinner... something they’ve done for years, aside from Ziggy Hood.

Also, I don’t include Tremaine Edwards, because he’ll be long gone.

Because Kiper is a Ravens fan and an idiot.

The way Kiper's draft fell it would be either Carter or Bates.

Hahaha--very true!

they could be receiving calls offering them 3 2's and 3 3's for that pick, and they'd still be sprinting to the podium

When Tomlin and Colbert fall in love with a player...they really fall in love with a player.

I saw a Seattle mock that had us trading with the Seahawks in order to get Evans because the Steelers feel (according to them) that he won't last until 28.

As to who the pick will be- whoever is the most likely day one starter at either the S or the ILB.

I severely doubt that. They have their TVS guys now, so they don't have to go with an untrusted rookie. Not on day one.

I'd say there's a decent chance Rashaan Evans isn't even healthy enough to start day one.

Denzel Ward should not be bolded unless you see us moving WAY up to get him

True. I was going off of position only.

That first tier are all guys who would have to fall. And Ward might not go as high as advertised, anyway.

And where do you see Ward going

probably 9 or 10, but with all the QBs and a supposed surprise pick for Oakland... could go 15 or 16.

If the Colts do not trade back again I would guess Ward goes at 6.

Surprised not to see Malik Jefferson on there. He checks a lot of boxes that they normally like. Definitely think he’s an option at 28.

I am not a fan. Especially in the 1st. Jefferson is more athlete than football player. Bad instincts. I think he is a lot like Vince Williams and the Steelers already have Vince Williams

I know most see him later, but our last two top picks T.J. Watt and Artie Burns say hi. If they like him and don't think he'd be there at 60, he's gotta be in discussion. They are taking an ILB either 1.28 or 2.60. They've brought too many in not too.

I agree. Evans is more football player than athlete which may be what they need but I think he will redshirt his rookie year like Dupree.

Serious. Groin. Injury.

It's Jarvis all over again. Makes plays on tape, just be sure to ignore the ones he doesn't make because of his mobility skills. Play in big conference, falling on draft boards, shitty workout. Excuses.

Also not a position fit for a Mack LB. If we're looking to upgrade Vince and think that's really where the problem is, then he's your guy.
