Browns announced that the great OT Joe Thomas is retiring.

Thomas played with 20 - 20! - different QBs during his time in Cleveland.

I'm a little shocked. With all the moves the Browns have been making, I expected him to give it another year at least. I saw some tweets that made me think he was excited about the team.

If Thomas makes the Hall, would he be the only HOF player to never appear in a post season game?

The Steelers have at least three player HOFers who never appeared in a playoff game:

Ernie Stautner, Bill Dudley, Jack Butler

Perhaps I should qualify that with 'modern era', considering the playoffs consisted of one game back then.

I hope he enjoyed all three victories.

Not if.

When.

He might be sorry he bailed so soon....in a few years.

I suppose he could always un-retire.

Funny that out of just the small handful of career sacks he had, Jervis got one on this future hall of famer.

Maybe, but here's a quote from his retirement interview: "I was standing in front of the media at the podium, and I had Mobic (a powerful anti-inflammatory) in my body, I had Tylenol and Vicodin. I couldn't stand for more than a minute or two without excruciating bone pain in my knee and my back." (jump to the 45 second mark in the video below)

I know Alan Faneca has talked at length about carrying that much weight and the havoc it caused on his joints.

I've been a fan of Joe Thomas since he was drafted. Anyone that chooses fishing over attending the draft is fine by me.
