The #Browns are expected to sign OT Chris Hubbard to a 5-year deal worth $37.5M with nearly $18M guaranteed, source said. More help up front for Cleveland.

That's a very nice deal for him.

Should have R3 value, but we'll probably get screwed and it will be R4.

Good for him. Good for us if it lands a 4th round comp pick back our way.

Contract plus performance correct?

I forget who it was, but we had a similar $ value contract a few years ago that only netted an R4. So given the cap has gone up, the best we get for that is probably an R4.

I assume other FA contracts factor in, as well, and with the QB's and some other big deals out there Hubbard could actually slip to an R5. By that I mean there are only so many R3 the NFL will award.

Yes, but contract is the main component. Don’t forget to compare what Hubbard got to what other FA contracts are coming in at. We’ve already seen another OL get $13 million per year. Cousins and Bradford are reportedly getting north of $20 million per year. Hubbard at 7 per should hopefully land a 4th. That is if the Steelers don’t sign some outside free agents.

Well, you have maybe Eli....and that's about it. Figure we're going to sign Timmons, and at least one other guy and we might be looking at nothing for Hubbard.

Another reason to have kept Harrison....

KNew Hubbard would score a killer deal. Good for him he earned his way up. Congrats to him and his family. Now he has to see the Steelers twice a year.

I have no issue and good luck to Chris. I also hope that like some suggest it gets us a nice comp pick.

Good point....He was cut, so don't think he counts in the "net" calculation.
