Willie Gay’s Lil Jon impression at the 09’ Super Bowl parade will live in infamy.

God speed, Big Play Willie Gay

Yeah, that's wrong.

William Gay signed a 3 year, $7,500,000 contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, including a $1,900,000 signing bonus, $1,900,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $2,500,000. In 2018, Gay will earn a base salary of $1,750,000, while carrying a cap hit of $2,383,334 and a dead cap value of $633,334.

So, cap hit of $2,383,334 and a dead cap value of $633,334 comes out to $1.75M of cap savings when released.

Gay was one of the truly good guys on the team. Sad to see him go, but it needed to happen.

Looking back, that 2007 draft (Tomlin's first) was pretty damn solid:
- Timmons
- Woodley
- Spaeth
- Willie Gay

Didn't Gay have that weird run over like a three year timeframe or something where every time he made an interception it was a pick 6? It happened like 5 or 6 times in a row I think.

Great Career Willie Gay. The best stretch of his career was the 3 years after his return from Arizona. He was our best CB during that period, with solid play, and a number of big picks. Overall, a great career for a late 5th round pick. Big play Willie Gay was a hard worker and it payed off.

Thanks for your services Big Play Will Gay! A dream of a 5th rounder. As a fan, you wish they all worked out that well.

Willie Gay was that rarest of 5th round picks under Colbert who actually was a very good player.

When you look over Colbert's history of 5th rounders I can only think of arguably three that were decent, Clark Haggans, Willie Gay and Jesse James. Other than those three it has been a virtual wasteland in the 5th round, just one bad pick after another, many failing to make the team as a rookie.

Let us hope that Brian Allen can buck that unfortunate trend and become the next worthwhile 5th rounder.

26th best player selected in 2007, picked 170th.
Tied with Brent Celek and one behind Uche Nwaneri-- all picked in the 5th round.

Very good player over the years. Although he had a really bad SB against the Packers from what I recall. I can't bring myself to rewatch that game, but I recall him being abused a lot that day.

Thanks for everything Big Play William Gay!

Seriously though, will go down as one of the team's best picks in the 5th round ever. Was a stalwart on defense during his prime and helped this team win a Super Bowl.

Brutal.

AR purposely looked his way in that game.

More about Rogers being just that damn fucking good that day, rather than Gay being bad...

A great Steeler, and and even greater person for his charitable work advocating for victims of domestic violence. I have no doubt better things are ahead for him in life outside the stadium.
Good luck Big Play Willie Gay!

Best of luck with your life's work William Gay. Thanks for your time as a Steeler.

Ben's the only guy left from the last Super Bowl winner.

Good corner that brought with him an above average mentality and maturity. Great veteran leadership. Thank you William Gay.

Jordy Nelson cut today by the Packers. Coincidence?

Jody was cut because they needed his $9M in cap space to sign TE Jimmie Graham. Graham will be Rodgers' new Red Zone TD catching machine. Jordy look really slow all of the sudden last year.

Oh sorry, just realized the Jordy/Gay connection. I game I'll never forget, as I was in Jerry's house that day.
