The offense ranked in the bottom half of the NFL in red-zone efficiency, finishing No. 22 in touchdowns scored inside the 20.
“I think over the course of the season, we felt like we could be better on third-down conversions and red-zone conversions,” Rooney said Wednesday during an interview with reporters. “But, overall, I think it's one of those years where we've got to look at everything and try to figure out where we can get better.
http://triblive.com/sports/steelers/132 ... cy-in-2018 So every year Ownership [Rooney] comes out and addresses the masses with where he wants to see improvement. In the past it's been Protect Ben, Rush the ball better, rushing the passer. This year isn't much different. Rooney wants better red zone efficiency. Pathetic just doesn't seem to sum up this stat above. We watched all season (actually several season's) as the Steeler offense struggled in the red zone. With an all world class WR, RB, two very decent WR's a couple of journeymen TE's and a solid OLine and that's all they muster? If you look at the top half of the rankings Eagles, Patriots and Jaguars were all in the top 10 scoring offenses. All 3 were coincidentally in the playoffs. Hmmm....
Now if they could refocus their attention towards the defense. I did read an article yesterday stating Rooney expects the draft to be defensive side of the ball heavy. I think it was depot if memory serves. I think with the "retirement" of Lake and the Dunbar hire they have started the process and addressed the two positions coaches need to step up the production. Completely baffled as to why Porter was not excused and why his position gets a pass when they absolutely stunk up the field [Dupre] I'm looking at you. Chickillo is who he is. A DE transitioned into a coverage LB'er and he's marginal at best so far. Moats? Buh Bye! Watt looked decent to good off the cuff. Need some quality depth at OLB and DLine. Also ILB is a shambles. I expect safety and ILB are Priorities in the 2018 draft and are addressed early. And in closing...

“I think that there are times when it makes sense to make a change, and so that decision was made” Rooney said. “I thought Todd brought a lot to us, and we had some success while he was here. Hopefully, we can build on some of that going forward. Our new coordinator is very familiar to everybody, so it's not like we're making major changes, and I think under the circumstances, that's appropriate.”
Good Riddance re:Todd....
