I would rather cash.

Or free proctologist coupons.

Ouch- that's gotta SMART for Casey.

I mean- he gets to go to a World Series contender, but to be valued as equal to Chad Qualls?

Just going to play devil's advocate for a moment.

Grill came out of nowhere this year. Qualls has actually saved ballgames and pitched in a World Series.

We got Karstens (and Drabek) and our 47 yo OF from the Yankees. You have to throw them a bone every once and a while.

Casey had no place with the moves they made. Jones is going to 1B/OF and Sanchez is going to get those AB's. You are not taking Toro out of the lineup, so he was going to gather dust in any case. The groin injury and hitting .100 since the break didn't help.

Don't feel too bad. He's going to the playoffs and winning a division. Good buffet, I hear.

I watched Qualls pitch for the Phillies this year.

Dude has fucking lost it, man. And you can't blame it on the Phillies sucking- he went to the Yanks and STILL couldn't get his shit together.

I can't believe nothing else was out there to get with Casey.

I'd rather have DJ Qualls.

In retrospect Chad Qualls might not have been as terrible of a pick up as we first thought. As long as he doesn't get exposed against left handed hitters he is serviceable. Left handed hitters demolish him but right handed hitters are only putting up a .691 OPS against him. In the last 5 years here are the OPS that right handed hitters have posted against him:

2012 - .691
2011 - .491
2010 - .685
2009 - .609
2008 - .584

I heard that somewhere else, Pro. That he's a "Roogy".

Only good thing I've heard about him, really.

I'm fine with this trade now, by virtue of a correlative trade, we have a younger RH bat at 1B, with more years of control, and we'll see how that goes.
