I've had it for over a year but this summer especially I lose my signal for long periods of time. Right now a storm is coming in and it's cloudy, no freaking signal. Heavy rain = no signal. Snow = no signal. Clouds = no signal.
Anyone else have this issue?

Other than viacom wanting more money for the channels they own ( no longer have nickelodeon, spike and comedy central) I haven't had an issue. My 6 year old hates that she can't watch nickelodeon. Perhaps it is the geographical location for you?

Anyone else have this issue? It may need adjusted and put back on the right azimuth and elevation. However, if something blocks line of sight to the southern skies (like a tree, cloud, heavy rain) there isn't much you can do about it. Sometimes wind knocks the dish out of adjsutment and drops your signal percentage down. Then a storm comes and the signal was already weak and it goes out quicker.

My 6 year old hates that she can't watch nickelodeon. Perhaps it is the geographical location for you? Your issue should be with Directv. They haven't raised the amount they pay Viacom for seven years. Check Directv's profit increase during that time. Nickolodeon was the #1 watched cable channel on Directv. You have seen those smarmy commercials with smarmy MIke White, CEO of Directv? He tells you how he's trying to keep your rates down which is why DTV is "negotiating" with Viacom. They are just trying to protect you. If they give in to Viacom, your bill goes up 30%. Blah blah blah. Not quite. Viacom does want a 30% bump, but there is no automatic increase to your bill and whatever it is it won't be 30%. Here's something you could try if you want to check my take on this: Call Directv. Tell them you have been watching Mike White and he's a great guy and makes perfect sense. You understand that there is a direct connection between what Viacom charges and your bill. Now ask them - I've lost the Viacom package, 28 channels. When can I expect a decrease in my monthly Directv bill. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

Quote: hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah In not so many words this was their response when I called them immediately after losing these channels. Actually, I believe it is 17 channels but I get your premise. Their alleged actions to "keep rates down" are an insult to customer's intelligence.

I called and bitched because they gave everyone Encore movie channels because of the loss of the Viacom channels.
Got 5$ off a month like Fury said. Problem is that doesn't do much good as DTV is still making money off of the issue.

Did they tell you that or is it your calculation, b/c when I called them they just hemmed and hawed and said, "At this time there will be no decrease."

Gee I didn't get free Encore or $5 per month discount. Did you? Cody - I live in MT. Goes out from time to time--I've had DTV for 10+ years--due to weather conditions but seems to be improving lately. I heard they actually launched a backup sattelite or are using one already up or something like that. Had brutal thunderstorms a couple nights this week and lost reception for a couple minutes each night. Used to be much worse than that.

I called for my annual Sunday Ticket reduction call and I asked them why am I being charged for these channels but can't watch them? The lady said they were offering a $5 bill reduction per month until the channels get restored. I checked my on-line bill and they credited me $5.
