Johnson for the right price would be a very nice addition to the Steelers defense.
Very good on special teams He is a weapon against the passing game....He is far better in coverage than given credit for. Decent pass rusher He can play multiple positions Very smart and a great character guy.
Matt Roth is really interesting
He is very good against the run at OLB His pass rush game is over rated. He will need to play at 250 for the Steelers...Don't be surprised if the Steelers try to move him inside ala Teddy Bruschi Or he needs to gain 10 pounds to play 34 end
Once again for the right price I am interested
Both players offer the Steelers versatility

I really expected to see them add a veteran CB to the mix. I'm a bit surprised they are looking at the LB spot.

Quote: Free agent OLB Matt Roth is visiting the Steelers on Wednesday. The Jaguars showed no interest in re-signing Roth after he missed seven games due to concussion issues last season. Although he's been given a clean bill of health, Roth's only other known visit was to Cincinnati in late March. Quote: the lawyer: It’s a busy day for visitors at Steelers headquarters.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the team will be playing host to three veteran free agents in search of jobs on Wednesday. Linebacker Brandon Johnson, kicker Dave Rayner and linebacker Matt Roth will all be in Pittsburgh to meet with the team.
Johnson played every game of the last four seasons for the Bengals, mostly as a reserve and key special teams contributor. He would likely play the same role if he wound up with the Steelers and they have a need with the departure of James Farrior earlier this offseason.
Rayner would provide competition for Shaun Suisham. He played one game for the Raiders last year and then wound up in Buffalo after Rian Lindell went down with an injury. Rayner made 10-of-15 field goals for the Bills and he’s made 72.2 percent of them over the course of his career. Suisham has made 37-of-46 field goals in his two years with the Steelers.
Roth played just nine games for the Jaguars last season because of a concussion. He picked up 3.5 sacks in those games and the Steelers are probably looking at him as depth behind James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley as a pass-rushing outside linebacker.

If any of these players were signed for the vet minimums and impressed in camp perhaps it gives the Steelers flexibility to make some cuts. I am hoping players like Larry Foote, Will Allen and Jon Scott can all be cut and the money saved be used to sign/extend Wallace and/or next years free agents.
Those 3 players are set to make, what, almost $7 million combined this season? I don't think the Steelers are done cutting the fat from the roster.
