http://thisisgettingold.net/2012/05/01/ ... s-game-23/I feel like either the Pirates used up all their runs last night, or they will build some momentum and take this road series. They have been alternating wins and losses starting on 4/18 against the Diamondbacks. I guess it's better than losing two in a row, but you can't improve too much winning every other game. Evan Meek optioned to AAA Indy, wouldn't be surprised to see Danny Moskos up. He hasn't been great by any measure, but I have to assume Clint Hurdle is really pushing for a second lefty, something he is on record about preferring. We also have a Facebook page, if you're into that sort of thing. https://www.facebook.com/ThisIsGettingOld

Too bad about Meek, but a second lefty out of the pen is huge. Will give the manager a lot more options late in games, so I like the move.
Yeah, we need to get on a little bit of a roll like we did last year, in at least winning or splitting series', rather than alternating wins/losses. Unlike last year, when no team in our division really caught fire until late in the year, the Cards are threatening to run away from the pack. We need to slow them down and no better way to do it than head to head in these next 3 games.
Really need a win tonight!

.500 against quality opponents is nothing to sneeze at.....as long as they can step up the winning percentage when the schedule eases up.
Looking forward to playing the Astros, Marlins, Cubs, etc later this month. Hopefully the bats will all be clicking for real by then.

Tabata! takes advantage of a hanging curve and knocks it out for a 2 run homer!

Ive never seen a Major League team boot and kick more routine plays in the last 25 years of play in the show....you would think that I would be adjusted to it by now and not get so fucking pissed off. NOT SO MUCH

NOT SO MUCH I agree our fielding is atrocious, but I'll give them a pass tonite -- the MLB schedule makers fucked us this year with this shitty schedule. Tell me these guys aren't sluggish from 4 games in a row in ATL, and then immediate game the next day in STL without a travel day between (the Cards played 2 days ago, got a day off, and are playing at home). Jones's error, especially, looked like it was caused by fatigue rather than poor baseball skill. I wonder when they make these schedules if the premier teams get little advantages such as this, whereas the 2nd tier teams like the Pirates get fucked up the ass on travel and rest days. Would be an interesting study.

I grew up in the West and only got to see or listen to the Pirates on their trips out here, and back before the stupid interleague games we'd always get 3-game-home and -away series against the Dodgers, Padres, etc. But now, especially as the Bucs have slid farther into oblivion, it seems that their now once-per-season trip out here is usually on stupid mid-week nights instead of a more desirable weekend series . . . with the crappy product the Pirates have been putting on the field for the past decade, guess I can't blame the schedulers.

. . . and Pedro with another one belted outta the yard brings it within 7 - 4 . . . Man, if this team ever gets the bats & arms & gloves all working at the same time, we might be a force to be reckoned with. Holy Crap . . . great play, Barajas . . . time to call it a night and end this fiasco with the Mercy Rule and have the Bucs try to get a decent night's sleep and start over fresh tomorrow . . .
