He tested positive for weed. It's gotten to the point where most teams couldn't care less about that. It should hardly effect his draft status. Jebrick, you're making too many assumptions about his character based on a failed pot test. And who said being a pothead is big obstacle to becoming a great NFLer?

Jebrick, you're making too many assumptions about his character based on a failed pot test. And who said being a pothead is big obstacle to becoming a great NFLer? Not one. I'm making a point because he does not care enough to care about preparing for a job interview. And a job interview where you know all that will happen. It has been said in these forums that it is not hard to fool the tests for weed when you know it is coming. A small amount of effort and he could have done that. We all made fun of Andre Smith when he showed up to the combine out of shape and looking like crap. How has he been as a pro? Does it look like he cares? Are you surprised? If not, why? Why not draft Vontaze Burfict? He failed a drug test but is an outstanding athlete. Looked like crap at the combine because he did not feel he needed to prepare. The results of the combine matter less than how a player prepares for the combine. Adams has great film... most of the time. That is why he will go by the 2nd round at the latest. I just think it shows his character and it would not be something to spend a lot of money on.

Quote: My hands-down favorite moment of training camp so far came courtesy of Pittsburgh offensive tackle Marvel Smith, on the day the Steelers reported to scenic St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa.
Briefly addressing reporters for the first time since he had been arrested for possession of marijuana in his Tempe, Ariz., hotel room in mid-July -- let's just call it a tokin' appearance -- Smith turned in a truly Clintonesque performance.
Smith was arrested when Tempe police, alerted by the smell of burning marijuana, knocked on his door and found a small amount of the illegal drug. Reports that Smith apparently had his hotel room window open -- in the middle of an Arizona summer day -- were apparently erroneous.
In his statement to the media, Smith several times took full responsibility for his actions, saying he "made a poor decision in regards to who I was with and where I was at the time.'' Which might have come as a shock to his wife, who was in the hotel room with Smith when the police arrived.
Asked if someone else was doing the smoking and not him, Smith said: "I had nothing to do with what was going on. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, for the most part.'' Asked twice more if he used the drug, Smith emphatically said no.
In other words, Smith might have inhaled, but not directly. Or is that just a second-hand smokescreen? Smith apparently had company before the police arrived and discovered the pot. The third-year veteran tested positive for marijuana in college at Arizona State, but this is believed to be Smith's first violation of the NFL's substance-abuse policy. First-time offenders are not subject to suspension.
In a refrain that has become all too familiar in professional sports, Smith's bottom line seemed to be this: "It's all my fault. But I didn't do it.''

Marvel Smith went to Skyline High School... I'm pretty sure that he was a stoner his whole NFL career...
Home town of Oaksterdam, etc.
Maybe he "rose above", but I fucking doubt it. He just got smarter and never got caught, IMO.
But feel free to call Mike Adams a dipshit or whatever. IDC about his pot history, I care about his injury history.

It would bother me that he does not care enough to either not do it or cover it up for a test he knew was coming even though he knows it will cost him. That is all.

i would wager at least 60% of the guys at the combine smoke or have smoked pot... the fact that only a handful test hot each year says more about the nfl's testing than anything.
