I'm already seeing the misery on Facebook. It's great. But, of course, they probably enjoyed our pain on Sunday.
I know you were struggling with that series, dman, as you despise both teams.

Rooting for somebody out of the West to win it all.

It's a tough one - personally, my order of despised teams in the east is: - Philly
- Boston
- Craps
- sharp drop before anyone else
So I'll have to be pulling for the Craps. If this was 13 years ago, when I lived outside DC, the Craps would probably be above Philly, and Boston wouldn't even be on the list. However, living in enemy territory does something to me - I have very good friends who are true, long-time Bruins fans who I hate to see suffering like we are, but it's just no fun to live in an area with a ton of recent championships and bandwagon fans who feel entitled.

I feel the exact same way about the Bruins, 29. And in fact, I always liked the Bruins until they won last year, and the local on-air nitwits starting pairing them with the Patriots in their promos and doing the same bullshit when talking about the foibles of the Pittsburgh teams ...."that would never happen with the Patriots" and " that would never happen with the Bruins."If you diss my team, then Fuck You.....I hope you fuckin' lose and are miserable in the process. For that reason, I've got to add the Rangers to that list as well, because of the comments of their fuckwad coach about Sid & Malkin. I'm not as down on the Caps (I know I should be) as we own them come playoffs. It makes it easier not to hate them so bad

I'm rooting for the Panthers or the Western Conference to win it all. The hilarious thing though is that almost immediately after Hunter was hired and the team kept losing the fans wanted him fired. They were talking about how they didn't even want to make the playoffs because it would mean he'd keep his job. Now they've all completely flip flopped.

I'm not sure how many Caps games you've seen this year, but the Capitals didn't start to play good hockey until maybe a week or two before the playoffs when they were playing for their lives. Up until that point they were the epitome of a mediocre 7-seed backing into the playoffs, they weren't playing well in Hunter's system, and he looked even less flexible than Boudreau did with personnel. I think they were more talented than Winnipeg and Buffalo, but both of those teams handed us our asses - Winnipeg repeatedly - down the stretch. I have no idea how or when the switch got flipped. There was precious little indication that this team would play the kind of gritty team defense they did in this series, or for fuck's sake Semin of all people stepping up and playing excellent on BOTH sides of the ice. That said, even with the quality defensive play this series, its not a stretch to think that Knuble and Ward may have saved both McPhee and Hunter's asses. BTW you can count me amongst the folks who definitely thought they pulled the trigger too early on Boudreau. Hindsight is 20/20 now, but when it looked like a vastly improved Ducks team might sneak in to the dance and Winnipeg/Buffablow might push past us, it was getting pretty ugly around the DC/metro area and I think deservedly so. For all our regular season success I still think McPhee could very well be the the Ozzie Newsome of the NHL.
