They move McClellin around a lot on third downs, but I'm pretty sure he spent most of that game at LDE over RT and the TE.

Players I think are overvalued on this board, assuming they were actually drafted at the position they're ranked:

3. Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama - not the next coming of Adrian Peterson
12. Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame- there were probably 20 better WR's in the country last year (not all in draft)- your gonna reach on this one?
13. Dontari Poe, DT, Memphis- great body, limited tape
14. Shea McClellin, OLB, Boise State- Maybe, but at 1.14?
15. Dont'a Hightower, ILB, Alabama- coverage is a question mark, that's huge for a mid-1st round ILB prospect
30. Vinny Curry, DE, Marshall- again, probably great measurables and production, but DE's from Marshall don't make the first round
33. David Wilson, RB, Virginia Tech- I'm trying to picture a fan being excited about this being the first pick of R2, if it's their team...


These just seem to be the obvious ones, to me... Significantly undervalued? Again, I'm trying to think if I'd be stoked if MY team drafted said player at the listed rank, they'll be west coast guys I know- so I'm at least partly full of shit:

5. Matt Kalil, OT, Southern California- only two spots, but you're talking a future anchor of your offense here
24. David DeCastro, G, Stanford- would you be stoked if he fell to you at 1.24? Yes you would...
34. Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford- it's a rare draft that doesn't see 3-4 tackles go in the 1st round
38. Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford- consensus best TE in the draft also goes in R1
64. Alameda Ta'amu, DT, Washington- After the Senior Bowl he was a great value at end of 1st round- did he get sick?
71. LaMichael James, RB, Oregon- production puts him the 1st round, size and character drop him to the 2nd... No further
83. Billy Winn, DE, Boise State- before the season, I'd guess Winn and McClellin's positions in the draft would be reversed. Scratch that- no one was even talking about McClellin seriously at all, but he's now consensus 1st round.
89. Marvin Jones, WR, California- had no one throwing to him... I would be surprised if he makes it out of the 2nd, not totally astonished if someone blew a 1st on him

Perch... Weren't you the one that talked about not drafting an RB in Rd 1? I see drafting an OG almost the same way... Especially in a deep draft class.

Yes, I am of that opinion on RB's. The difference between a RB and an OG is about 5 years life expectancy in the NFL. The reason I don't like RB in round 1 is because you can typically expect 5 to 6 years of good play before the pounding they take creates a significant drop in their play. A 28 year old RB is reaching the end of the rope, while you can get a good guard and expect him to hold up into his early to mid 30's.

Think about the difference Alan Faneca and Steve Hutchison made for their offenses over a 10 year span. I see Decastro making that kind of impact. A great guard can make a good RB very productive and help keep the QB clean.
