By the way,

I really hope the Bengals and Browns drafts do not mirror what Drama and Perch have done thus far. Probably my 2 favorite drafts at this point.

they both have 2 1st rounders; brown and holmgren might be the two worst heads of personnel in the league (unless you count snyder),

but don't expect their actual draft pulls to be much less than those.

I'm more impressed with what they've done after the first rounders. There have been some real value picks for both.

So many good drafts its hard to find the time to comment on all of them. Charles yours stood out to me not just because you took all SEC players but because you hit upon the needs of the Lions.

The Lions have star power on both sides of the ball with Suh, Calvin, and Stafford. But for them to be a contender they need to first tighten up that secondary and you've done that with fast rising Mark Barron and 4th rd steal Casey Heyward.

On offense, it would appear that the Lions have solved the curse of Bobby Layne with 5,000 yd passer Matt Stafford, but now a new curse has arisen in Motown....the curse of Barry Sanders. Between Jahvid Best's concussion issues and Mikel Leshoure's achilles they need to find a runner better than Kevin Smith to help balance out the offense a little. Massie and Jones will add talent and toughness to the OL and Ballard adds a healthy dose of power to the backfield.

Anyway, good stuff Charles...I know you have a MAC player stashed away somewhere ;)

24. Steelers -- Dont'a Hightower, ILB, Alabama
61. Steelers -- Doug Martin, RB, Boise State
86. Steelers -- Senio Kelemete, OG/OT, Washington
119. Steelers -- Asa Jackson, CB/KR, Cal-Poly
159. Steelers -- Brandon Hardin, FS, Oregon State
165. Steelers -- Miles Burris, LB, San Diego St.
194. Steelers -- B2B* (12-4)
231. Steelers -- B2B* (12-4)
240. Pittsburgh Steelers (comp) -- B2B
246. Pittsburgh Steelers (comp) -- B2B
248. Pittsburgh Steelers (comp) -- B2B

A work in progress, obviously. Trying to focus this year on: Leadership, character, productivity, developmental upside, intelligence (both general and football), and motor/passion. It's easy to get enamored with gaudy stats and workouts and talent... After spending this offseason reading about/seeing/listening to the 70s Steelers, it occurs to me that the influx of, in Chuck Noll's words, "those special kinds of people" who block hard, tackle hard, hit harder than the opponent made a significant difference in turning a two-SB winning team into a dominant force that won two more. So, to that end, leadership/hitter, leadership/physical, leadership/blocker/developmental, hitter/developmental, hitter.

Whoever is drafting for Dallas is doing a damn fine job also.

Flemming and Toon in the 4th round are ridiculous value picks. Toon could sneak into the back half of the 2nd more likely 3rd, but Dallas got him with the last pick in the 4th. Flemming is also a potential 2nd to early 3rd. Nice work.

edit: Forty Three is the man making the picks...

I love Flemming but Toon has two problems: 1. has a foot injury... scary proposition given what foot injuries mean for WRs in general 2. fails to create his own separation at the college level... what's he going to do to get open in the NFL? I mean, he's good value in the 4th or later but I don't see him going in the 2nd in such a deep WR class.

Considering the picks you're working with, Sarge... That's a solid haul.

I agree. I was a big toon fan but he's not exPlosivE enough to be an Nfl stud. I think he compares to Kevin Walters
