going off current nfldraftscout rankings

1:13 Jonathon Martin OT Stan (replaces Max Starks at LT)
1:24 Dontari Poe NT Memphis (replaces Hampton)
2.56 Kevin Zeitler OG Wisconsin (replaces Kemoeatu at LG)
3.88 Nigel Bradham ILB Florida State (replaces Farrior)
4.122 Devier Posey WR Ohio State (#4 WR behind Brown, Sanders, Cotchery)
5.160 Josh Chapman NT Bama ( although injured he starts at NT in 2013 and Poe moves to DE. Value is too great to pass up)
6.195 Matt Daniels SS Duke ( ST gunner and replacement for Allen)
7.220 Tank Carder LB TCU ( Replaces Foote)
7.245 Austin Davis QB Sth Miss (luxury pick)

O line Martin, Zeitler, Pouncey, Foster, Gilbert plus Legursky& Scott/ Turner
D line Hood Poe Keisel plus Heyward, McClendon & Chapman
How you doing Aussie? Great to hear from you.

Zeitler is almost a given @ 56, that can mean just one thing.
Like Bradham alot, seems to have alot of experience and ability. He's built alot like Sly.
Chapman seems to be a favorite. I think everybody thinks and sees Hoke.

That extra 1st rounder, especially that high, could go a long way for the trenches. I'm not sure I have enough faith in Poe. Martin / Konz would do wonders for the left side of the line. At the very least you solve all your tackle worries, including swing. I'd be willing to take my chances on NT 3rd down.

Konz is a favourite of mine and I agree - Martin and Konz would a sensational first round.

I didnt include Konz as he is currently rated around #22 and I think he will be gone. Zeitler is the insurance if Konz is gone. Your opinion of Poe is a bit like mine with Cordy Glenn. I think they are a lot bigger / heavier than what fits the steeler profile for their respective positions.

I personally think that grabbing Mike Wallace is a much better prospect for some teams than risking a first rounder on an unproven commodity.

They need someone to play swing tackle, besides Essex & Scott.

That's why a top OT would be so valuable.
db...I like your mock, but when I see that "starting" O-line, well, very risky to say the least.
A second year player who was spotty at best at RT, moving to the left side. Then plugging in a rookie next to him, I like Zeitler a lot, but thats a big gamble. Then a pro bowl center who has had his share of injury problems so far in his short career. The right side is a train wreck waiting to happen. I'm not one of those with blinders on about Foster. The coaching staff tried their best to replace him last camp for a reason. He may not suck as much as Hills, Legs, etc., but he sucks nonetheless! I want no part whatsoever of Jon Scott starting for any length of time.
Then the top back-ups are a try hard guy, who is over matched physically 80% of the time he's on the field, and a guy we have no clue to how NFL ready he is.
That's just a shaky line IMO.
Think about this...one Pouncey ankle turn, and a Jon Scott shitfest from a starting line of Gilbert, Zeilter, Legs, Foster, Turner...ouch!

The RFA situation has changed dramatically.

The Steelers are also in a unique situation because they're doing ok at WR. I could live with AB / Sanders / Cotchery, if it meant overhauling the o-line basically overnight.

I understand what your saying, but compare that line to the 'projected 5 now'.

Gilbert (LT), Kemo (LG), Pouncey (C), Foster (RG), Colon (RT)

Many would love the opportunity to replace both Kemo & Colon.

Throw Martin & Konz into the o-line mix. Konz should make you feel better about both your guard & center positions. Martin gives you another needed tackle, hopefully a LT, at least more competition at the position. And most likely better talent than Colon / Scott.

Maybe Tomlin, Kugler & Haley start fresh;

Martin / Konz / Pouncey / Colon / Gilbert

:D

I would be quite upset if we really picked that early and grabbed the wrong OL from Stanford

Judging by most recent performance. I'm not sure we could pick o-line just as well as the FO.

But seriously, do you think either is not a 1st round selection. DeCastro / Martin

And by all means, plug in the right combination. DeCastro / Adams ?

Point being, the Wallace pick could be monumental to the offense and team overall.

4:122 Toon WR Wisc
5:160 Nic Jean-Baptiste DL Baylor
6:195 Rodriguez FB Temple
7.220 Maze WR/KR Bama

Just for the sake of throwing it out there:

1:13 David DeCastro, G, Stanford
1:24 Alameda Ta'amu, DT, Washington
2:56 Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina
3:88 DeMarrio Davis, LB, Arkansas St.

TB, your pretty high on Ta'amu & Davis?

Both Poe & Ta'amu scare me a little @ 24.
