Jack, that's right, it does seem kinda like that in terms of the decade split.

And you have listed a who's who of who might be on a conspiracy list. That's part of the problem, there were so many enemies, and folk JFK (or RFK) pissed off, it's tough to pin it down. I'd like to see whatever evidence they have sealed away released. Who living can be hurt if it was a lone nut job? That's a red flag for me, but it's still tough to say one way or the other.

It "looks" like a hit to me, but again, we're looking at it years later (by the time the Zapruder film was released).

Interesting stat that I heard was that one in four presidents get shot at and one in eleven get dead. I think it's pretty easy to get dead in Washington. Especially when you start messing around with the money boys like Lincoln and his greenbacks. Kennedy was also coming out with Treasury notes, as in dollar bills, instead of federal reserve dollar bills. That alone is enough to get you dead.

Like the old saying goes: follow the money

Hey MJ, just discovered your thread here . . .

For what my two cents are worth, as I've grown up, I've found myself less and less able to believe in the credibility of almost any conspiracies on any major scale behind big events . . .

I mean it's pretty certain there was a group behind the Lincoln assassination, while Booth and Dr. Mudd took the brunt of the blame . . . but otherwise IMO almost all modern conspiracy theories are just goofy wishful thinking for order in the sometimes violently random political world we inhabit.

Just don't see how Ollie Stone's "secret perpetrators" behind the scenes in '63 could've been sooo in complete control and out in front and all those involved carried all those secret details to their graves??? Or obviously those who blamed 9/11 on Bush --- even more laughable (and sad how widespread in belief) . . . I mean, love 'im or hate 'im, how could W have been so lame and stupid as many claimed and yet simultaneously so advanced and brilliant that he could mastermind and carry out the giant tower-killing deeds without leaving any traces behind . . . while nobody among the hundreds or thousands involved came clean and fessed up??

If any of our government officials were that smooth and omnipotent, I wish they'd turn those considerable skills towards solving the economic and other problems we're all slogging through!

And how about the deathbed confession of E. Howard Hunt? Crazy shit.

From what I've read around the web he was pretty crazy.

also found several sites with so much time on their hands they've run computer analysis of the bullet trajectories, with the windshield eliminating, among other things, any possibility of any of the shots originating from the infamous "grassy knoll" . . .

Then again, wouldn't put at least the intent past those crazy f'ers LBJ, J. E. Hoover, et al . . .

Yeah, Hunt was definitely a nutter and made claims (mostly false) all his life. He actually floated the rumor that JFK had Ngo Dinh Diem assassinated in order to get U.S. Catholics (Diem was Catholic) away from the Democrat Party. I'd trust him as far as I can throw him dead or otherwise.

Jack, though I'd classify myself as more of a political independent than conservative (nitpicking to some extent there), I'm with you re: JFK.

As for what to make of all of it. Who the fuck knows, you know? I'd like to see all the evidence released. Withholding it suggests something sinister, to me. If it was just a cold war thing, that's been over now for decades, and the Soviet Union no longer exists.

The Stone film did a lot of things for dramatic effect, but Jim Garrison was the real deal, and agree or disagree with him, he seemed to have a theory and followed it as far as he could get whatever facts he had to back it up would take him. The Stone film probably does more to dispute conspiracy theories these days however.

I've seen scientific tests which prove/disprove just about every contrary or myriad view of what happened that fateful day in Dallas, from the trajectory of the bullets to how many were fired, to you name it.

As for me personally, I tend to find conspiracy theories interesting, generally. One reason is that I think it's always important for folk to be skeptical of their government and the media's take on things. They give us very little reason to trust them most of the time. I think all of them have some interesting aspects; some are downright silly, like the moon landing was a hoax, for example. Others are more in the nebulous area. Others, like JFK's assassination, seem more plausible to me. Fact is, there remain questions on any side of it. There was such a web of intrigue going on back then, between the Cold War, Cuba, and all the peripheral shit, that it might never get all sorted out.

Hit or nut job, just a sad incident, as we commemorate the anniversary of the assassination of our President. (yesterday).

God Bless John F Kennedy.

Yeah, MeanJoe, it was certainly a sad day for our nation when he died. He was the president when I was born, and he was Catholic, a Navy man and a New Englander which probably explains my admiration of the man. In high school and later on in life, I did quite a bit of research on him as well as collecting old magazines, books, etc. having to do with JFK. God bless him.

Amen to that, Jack. Thank you for posting this.
