On what legal grounds can he be fined for speaking his mind and I don't care what you think of his operational savvy or anything.

One can now be fined for writing a blurb now?

On what legal grounds?

Is he an employee? Was he 'awarded ownership'?

Who is his boss that can do this? Goodell?

I agree that LeBron acted like a punk and left alot to be desired with his business ethics. What was more unethical was this Billionaire spouting off with a raw emotional rant about a NBA star shitting on him and his team. Fuck James, happy trails. Move on.
For him to be fined is even more unethical than the other two. IMO
Makes little sense but this is the world we are in right now where everyone has to be politically correct and always turn the other cheek.
Of course the media is eating this shit up and creating the pile on affect. Can't say I'm the least bit surprised!

I agree that Gilbert being fined is ridiculous, solely because Gilbert fucked no one but himself.

I'm no big fan of Colin Cowherd, but he said it best a few days ago when he said; "What free agents are going to want to go to Cleveland now?" Cleveland is far from a prime destination for free agents anyway and now that this IMBECILE has ranted like an idiot and cried like a bitch, ain't NOBODY with any options gonna look at the Cavaliers seriously again.

Book it.

Lebron James is an asshole (even though I live an hour from Miami and I'm pretty excited to see what the Heat look like next season) and that hour long ESPN special was pathetic, but only one dumbass could make James somehow appear as the victim.

Dan Gilbert.

His team is fucked, very possibly, forever.

Still unwanted by 32 NFL teams.

Pretty good on NBC though!

Ask Mark Cuban about being fined. You know what he calls being fined $100k by the NBA? Tuesday.

As far as Gilbert goes, the guy came off like some immature 12 year old brat on a message board talking about curses, guarantees, and the like. As an owner, you are supposed to be above it all and say the right things in public. Could you imagine a well respected owner like the Rooneys, the Maras, or Jerry Buss going on that rant. It would never happen. Cleveland has no lure for FA's in the NBA. Hell even a semi star like Chris Bosh wouldn't go play there even when they had Lebron. Now, they have no superstar and a loud mouth jerk owner that bashes players. Unless they win the draft lottery multiple times in the right years, they'll never have enough star power to compete for a title. Cowherd was right on the money.

I agree he acted childish but I liked it. He said what the Cav fans felt.

I wish Dan and Art would have been more pissed about Spygate.

Gilbert's rant was a bad move with respect to luring potential free agents, but it was a brilliant PR move with respect to the fans.

He has every basketball fan in Cleveland feeling like the victim of a horrendous crime, and has set his team up to be the rallying point for the next season or two. Now, if they don't make the playoffs within the next two seasons, then that's egg on his face. But if they do, then Cleveland could unite on the grounds of sending Lebron a giant "FUCK YOU". Sounds like a gamble, but it really isn't. Had Gilbert not published those remarks, then I think the Cleveland fanbase would have just completely written off the Cavs for the foreseeable future. Now, he's at least bought himself a season or two of manifested fan pride to try and capitalize off of. He just has one helluva of a job ahead of him to do it.

As a fan, what is more important to you, winning titles or having somebody to hate? I'm not sure what the answer to that is in Cleveland as they seem to prefer to hate more than winning. Anywhere else in the world, it was a bad move.
