Appreciated, skool. You've done some outstanding research work this season, have to tell you it's been appreciated.

This seems to validate NH. I give him a C. I gave him a C-ish around the time, and I stick to it. I do appreciate the update, skool.

You have to also look at what we got and how guys would be used here vs there.

Snider is an A, IMO. He has done a great job THIS year and carries great potential for the future. Wandy is a C to B-, he has pitched a lot better than he's given credit for, and his 2 innings in the 19 inning game as well as last Friday night moves him upward in my estimation. Plus we have him for next year, he's a decent vet, and I think we will be pleased with him overall.

Sanchez, I'm on the fence with. He's totally a potential trade, he's done very little for us this year, he might get back to his 2010 and 2011 performances next year.

Qualls for Casey F. Casey hasn't exactly torn it up but I'd love a vet hitter on our bench like him and Qualls, despite what he's done for us so far, is shit. Worthless.

You also have to consider the higher level of competition Lincoln and Casey are facing in the AL East.

We've got Snider for 4 years. HUGE potential return on that investment, as his ceiling is an above-average power corner OF.

Wandy is a lefty workhorse with a good resume who we could have through 2014.

Sanchez is a classic buy-low situation. We got him AND a low-level pitcher for Gorkys, who had NO future in Pittsburgh.

The Wandy trade ain't looking so hot, though.

I know it's AA, but those are some decent looking numbers for Grossman right there.

Very true.

Grossman figures to be either a ML CF with acceptable power who strikes out and walks a ton, but is lacking defensively...or a ML corner OF with below-average power who strikes out and walks a ton, and has plus defense.

Given other options, he seems to not have a place in Pittsburgh. But that's no excuse for not maximizing the return when trading him (which remains to be seen).
