Victor Black struck out six batters on two innings last night. In 117.2 IP he has allowed two Homers.
You were looking at twenty innings at most this year. Pirates have high end relief options all over the minor leagues.
The future of the bullpen is fine.

Victor Black has been impressive. They do have some power arms for the pen at the ready down on the farm. I wish they weren't so hesitant to use them. Chad Qualls, Really?

Are some Bucs fans still whining about trading away Brad Lincoln? That's pretty funny.

I think what a lot of folks were concerned about ... myself included ... was trading Lincoln for a rental like Victorino. Giving up a player that's just beginning to come into his own ... that we still had control on for many years ... for a two month question mark wasn't worth it in my opinion. We'll see if Snider is worth it. Even though we got him for 4 more years of control, the jury is obviously still out on him ... he's failed in his previous stints in the bigs and he definitely has his flaws (his swing is long, he strikes out a ton, and he seems like he is almost incapable of hitting the ball to the opposite field unless he hits the ball off the end of his bat and it spins crazily like it did in his first AB for us). But looking at the risk-reward it was probably worth the chance.

You know, old school guy that I am, I do get attached to players, foolish dude that I am. And I liked what I saw from Brad Lincoln this year. And for middle relief, you can't find anybody better this season. But no doubt about it, he is eminently replaceable. We have a lot of "similar" guys in our system. I am a little unnerved by some of the guys who are on the ML club in that position, but we have lots of guys in the minors who could do it, I'm sure.
