Since the Celtics were beat by the Heat - all of these talking heads have been pontificating about the Boston Three Party and how its an end of an era? Are you kidding me? They won one ring 5 years ago! Incredible.

Also - I have been following the Bucs over the weekend through ESPN and MLB Quick Pitch - Saturday Night - zip, nada - nothing! Couldnt believe it, I know its the Royals and the Pirates but man its incredible.

I think the national media are going to be hesitatnt to give the Pirates any love until they prove that this time, they will sustain.

Last year's collapse just as everyone was starting to notice them made it even more painful. I remember finally being excited to see the Pirates on Fox Saturday (against Milwaukee), but by the time the game was actually played, the Pirates had already lost those 10 in a row and 15 of 19, and were pretty much out of the race.

Don't worry Suwanee, if the Pirates continue their winning ways, they'll get their due. They're already getting a lot of play on MLB Network. ESPN will follow suit even though they suck donkey balls.

As for MY Celtics and the Big Three, you're right, we're not talking about the Bird reign or the Russell years, but you have to put in perspective what Garnett, Pierce and Allen accomplished. The Celtics were the NBA's Pirates as of the end of the 2006-07 season. They really hadn't won much since Bird retired around the same time that Bonds left for San Francisco. They went all the way in their first year, and went to Game 7 in the finals two years later. Maybe they win if Perkins doesn't go down in Game 6, who knows? Then this year. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE gave them a shot this season. At the trade deadline, their own GM was looking at blowing them up. When no one wanted to deal, the C's came together and melded into a great team geared to make one last run at it. They damn near made it. And yeah, it probably is the end of an era with the Big Three.

So while I love the Pirates, and hate it when the Pittsburgh teams don't get their due, I think it's rather silly to try and compare them to the Celtics and their publicity at the moment.
