Yeah, gotta win this series, and agree, a sweep would be sweet after that debacle vs the Mets.

The Pirates should have taken the momentum after the comeback victory in the first game with the Mets and parlayed that into some sort of momentum. Nope, they just reverted back to their PUTRID no hitting ways. Boy, do I really feel bad for the pitching staff who have been stallar this season.
Winning this series or even sweeping it? Yeah I know the Cubs suck worse than the Pirates, but I'm not hopeful for either. This team simply can't hit, and I have absolutely no hope for them this season.

Don't give up hope, Jack. Momentum in baseball usually lasts until your next starting pitcher. Or in our case, our next lineup card. Sweep would be fantastic, but I'm just pulling for a series win here, and then see what happens. I think we're getting to that point where it's obvious that McGehee, McLouth and Novarro are of absolutely no help to us (watch them all hit homers this weekend, and no one would be happier than me to eat it). Jettison those three, eat the salary, and look to AAA and waiver wire. I'd rather see guys who are young and developing struggle to hit than this trio of has-been's and never-were's.

Pirates offense just got better. Nate McLouth DFA.
As a bonus they called up mediocre Matt Hauge.

Praise the Lord.
No, Hague was not hitting well in the minors, but I'd rather go with someone like him on this team than fucking McLouth. Next up should be McGehee and Novarro. Please.

now, if only we had Marte in our starting OF, i'd be much happier Hague didn't sacrifice. He hit a dribbler back to the pitcher that should've been an inning ending double play, but Dempster couldn't get a handle on it and only got the out at first. Barajas made him pay with the RBI single and Alvarez with the nice back door slide to beat the tag!
