The issue shouldn't be that they gave this guy away. The issue should be the glaring mistake of continuing to keep McClouth on the roster in favor of anybody. How hard can it be to replace a deadweight extra OF? They should beg the Nationals to give back Xavier Paul.

Well yes- I agree with that...but replacing one of those deadweights with Drew Sutton doesn't suddenly mean the Pirates would suddenly jump up to playoff contender.

And who said it would make them a contender? Walk before you run. I simply want to build an intolerance for ineptness.

Something to consider regarding Gregg Ritchie, Pirates' embattled hitting coach: He and most of coaching staff was chosen by Neal Huntington to work under Clint Hurdle. Manager usually picks staff, not front office. Not so with Hurdle. GM said at time it's important to Pirates to show coaches in minors they'll be rewarded eventually. Ray Searage, excellent pitching coach, already on staff in 2011. Bench coach Jeff Banister, too. Thus, GM was talking about Ritchie. This was Ritchie's reward.

and if you needed another reason to hate tom brady... it's his fault we didn't draft bryce harper.

http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/fandom/post/_/id/2991/what-if-tom-brady-never-played-football

Montreal Expos – They would still exist. Montreal drafted Brady in the 18th round of the 1995 MLB draft and, without football pulling him to Michigan, no doubt Brady would have become a baseball superstar who packed Olympic Stadium night after night.

Washington Nationals – With the Expos making money in Montreal, the Nationals would not exist. The Expos also wouldn’t have picked first in 2009 and 2010, thanks to Brady’s winning ways, so Stephen Strasburg would play for the Mariners and Bryce Harper would be a Pittsburgh Pirate.

flawless logic...
