I guess all those years of being exposed to the thuggish behavior kinda wore off on the Pens huh? I don't like punching guys when they can't protect themselves but I'm all for a borderline hit that Neal laid.
Jeemie- how do you want the Pens to respond next time? Being down by 3 goals isn't fun. If they skate around like nothing is happening then it looks like they don't care. Engaging in this stuff at least sends a message that they won't go down easy.

Jeemie's Blue Band bona fides are starting to show. I'll all for the Penguins extracting every ounce of flesh they can from these douchebag Flyers. And someone tell me, what the fuck is wrong with Craig Adams yanking the fuckwad Hartnell's hair, his balls, or any other extremity on which he can place his hands. If the Pens go down in Game #4, I personally hope it's a fuckin' bloodbath, one that will compromise the Flyers for their next opponent. http://espn.go.com/nhl/I liked Melrose's perspective toward the end of this piece. Essentially, he said that these two teams hate each other worse than any two teams in all of sports. He did allow that the Red Sox and Yankees might hate each other alot, but in baseball, not much you can do about that hate.....whereas in hockey, you can do plenty about that hate.

Not to focus on the Hartnell thing, but Adams isn't that type of player to pull hair like a little bitch. I know he was trying to grab his shoulder pad and get some leverage...

I would argue that the fanbases hate each other alot in the Red Sox and Yankees rivalry, but I really don't get the feeling the players care nearly as much as the players in the Pens/Flyers rivalry.

I know he was trying to grab his shoulder pad and get some leverage... i agree. that little bitch hartnell was happy just to hold that little headlock he had along the bench until the refs came to save him. love how he tried to play it up like he was some sort of badass after sprinting away from adams by faking like he was ready to throw down in open ice and then immediately bolting toward his buddy pierre between the benches so adams couldn't actually land any more punches.

Quote: "The extracurricular stuff? We're trying to stay out of it," Philadelphia winger Scott Hartnell told reporters Monday at the team's suburban New Jersey practice facility. "We don't want to get involved in that war of words or whatever. We're playing the game the right way, we're finishing checks, we're keeping our elbows down and playing the game the right way.
"You look at a couple of plays yesterday and I think a couple of guys took liberties on our guys. They weren't trying to hit to be effective, they were trying to hit to hurt. That's where it stopped being hockey. That's not the right way it should be played."
Oh and I found that quote entirely hilarious. Hartnell all of a sudden getting religion ala Rodney Harrison in terms of dirty play. I mean after all he's the expert on the topic!

Engaging in this stuff at least sends a message that they won't go down easy. They lost game 3 by 4 goals. It was still a game when they started losing control. How much easier can they go down than that? Sorry...not buying it. They stay in control...maybe they find a way to win.

blame letang for getting himself tossed in the first period of game three for fighting a guy who didn't even want to fight. and for putting himself in the penalty box all game long in game two. no surprise our powerplay has sucked when our best point man is never out there for it.

I agree they need to stay in control. Letting the Flyers get into their head and drop them to that level is playing into their hands.

I define staying in control by keeping the lead - each game, the Pens have had a significant lead and have blown it - that is the reason they are losing their cool not because of cheap shots the Flyers are taking - they just cant believe they have blown the lead that many times.
