I think the Pens really miss a guy like Max Talbot -- I'm still not sure why he wasn't re-signed -- going to Philly made it a double negative.

Signing him away from us made them stronger and us weaker -- great move by Philly. And then they snatched Jagr too.

He was offered a deal. He turned it down. His salary demands were unrealistic given his recent play.

game starts (0)
tk scores (+1)
tk has a horrendous turnover leading to briere's offsides breakaway goal (-1)
tk is in la-la-land in overtime and the pens lose (-1)

that doesn't add up to 0, so he was either on the ice for one of the OTHER penguins' goals or he abandoned his shift in overtime and got off the ice before the flyers scored.

Sorry- I forgot he was on the ice for Briere's goal.

I would trade TK for Talbot 20 times a day and twice on Sunday

I think some people are romanticizing Talbot. Nobody was shedding any tears when he left, and there's a reason for that. Is the guy supposed to get a lifetime contract because of one fight and 2 goals 3 years ago?

TK has 2 less points than Talbot does on the year, in 21 less games played. He also is a +10 on the year while Talbot is a +5. Say what you willl about TK, but Talbot made his bed in departing Pittsburgh.

Talbot no longer plays with 2 or 3 of the best players in the world anymore -- sure his numbers might be down from TK.

But he plays with more intelligence and grit -- something our team lacks, and Max had it in spades.

and i think some people were romanticizing kennedy because he scored 21 goals when all of our star players were out and he was put on the powerplay by default.

he doesn't kill penalties, he's not on the powerplay unless there's a crippling number of injuries and he turns the puck over because he thinks he's a better stickhandler than he ever will be.

Yeah, Talbot is apparently in the Hines Ward Hall of Yinzer Hero's Who Should be Given Lifelong Contracts.

Just calmed down enough to read this thread. Didn't want to read it & pour salt in my own wound. Once we were up 3-0 I told my buddy as long as they don't start getting lazy, this should be a wrap...then the 1st one happened. (I wasn't in the room for it, putting my daughter to bed) that was a horrible non-call after I saw the replay.

You could see it all the way, even up 3-1 I was in a "just hang on" mode. TK & Martin looked like they were playing a game of hide-a-dook with each other. *Hey TK, I played like shit somewhere, you gotta find it or one-up me*

Disgusted we let that one get away, MAF was a bright spot, IMO. Sid is getting his touch back, but still catching up on the mental stuff. Philthy eliminated Geno & Neal...they need to find an extra gear.

All in all, it was only game 1. I still believe we can & will take this in 6. Our D needs a wake up call.

Orpik is the man, that call was hot garbage.

wTF are you talking about?

Hines Ward is a lifetime Steeler who helped us win super bowls -- are you saying it was a mistake to keep him around all these years? That makes NO SENSE AT ALL

Talbot should have been re-signed, just as Hines was re-signed 5 years ago. Talbot isn't over the hill or at the end of his career --

Jesus christ, how can you use Hines Ward as an example of why Talbot wasn't re-signed -- Hines played out THREE FUCKING CONTRACTS for the steelers, and he's a hall of famer! By that logic, we should have never let Talbot go.

And yet, your post is insinuating the opposite?

Take many logic courses?

Not suggesting they're in the same category, but I feel the same about Max Talbot as I do about Santonio Holmes.....I'll be forever indebted to him for bringing my team a championship. Game 7 on the road...both fuckin' goals!!! That was arguably the most significant win in Pittsburgh sports history!!
