Need to dig deep and find a way to get 2 points tonight before hitting the road....The pairing of Martin and Michalek finally is broken up by Disco Dan but he puts them together for the end of the second and they give up the cheapie... I would get Depres up and operating with the fellas for the remainder of the regular season and send Martin and his 5 million bucks packing to anyone who will take his happy arse at the deadline.

Interesting idea on Martin. Who, or what, would you be looking to get for him?

Gill....Allen....Kubina....a bag of old pucks Honestly at this point dumping his 5 million dollar cap hit for the opportunity to apply it to a power forward net front presence and/or a physical defenseman would be the goal. Pauly flat out blows and we need some muscle for the stretch run in a bad way. I believe Ray will do what it takes as early as next week.

Agreed, he's been awful this season, and the pp has been decent with or without him. Some physical presence on defense outside of Orpik would be nice, and another power forward would be useful, but only if Sid is going to be back for the stretch run. Otherwise, I'd lean toward bolstering the blue line and ride Malkin and Neal's line for offense down the stretch with spot scoring from Staal, Letang and the supporting cast. Don't think that, sans Crosby, another bonafide scoring line can be patched together on the fly with what we've got plus a deadline pickup. Put some beef in front of Flower if Sid's not gonna be a go. Best chance to win.

Maybe Ray can pull an epic maneuver and convince the Pred's brass that Martin for Suter and few bucks is a worthy swap with Suter being up for a contract come summer time....we can let him walk and go with Depres going forward Then take those extra dollars that the Martin dump afforded and you also get Kubina I think.

That'd be epic. Wow.

Some names I would consider for Martin:
Gill Reghyr Spacek Smyth Selanne
Note that Shero/Bylsma will want a vet Dman in return as I doubt he will want to roll w/ Despres in the postseason. Hell I'd be shocked if he is even traded.
The Martin/Z pairing has completely gone to shit. I've been bitching about splitting them up this whole season.

Martin will stay at least one more season.
As Donnie said, Shero isn't going to leave a hole in the defense going into the playoffs. So, unless he finds a cheap veteran replacement, get used to Martin.
