I know of only one thing - the Pirates are 67-54 and in the playoff mix. You guys think they should be better - you cant do shit with should. I deal with reality - its a team effort - Hurdle is the leader of this team on the field. I don't think they should be better. I KNOW they should...they should be at least two wins better. In a league where the difference between playoffs and no playoffs is likely to be one game...this two wins Hurdle turned into losses could prove fatal. You, of course, will point to payroll disparity if the Pirates fall one game short of the post-season, when in reality they could be there with their limited payroll but for those dumbassed decisions.

So in your world, Hurdle has blown 2 games and I will give that to you Jeemie - but here is a question - how many games would John Russell have on this team if he were the manager?

John Russell never managed this team. And, as I said, Hurdle doesn't get free rein to be a moron just because of the other good things he has done. The tactical and strategic mistakes he has made are mistakes high school managers wouldn't make.

Russell has not managed these players, so I don't know how he'd behave with them.
And again, it's irrelevant anyway.
As I said, that Hurdle may be better than Russell doesn't mean I need to give him free rein to act like a moron.

That isn't really fair. He's made some questionable decisions recently and gotten burned. He's made some good decisions though throughout the year that go unnoticed that have put players in position to win games. People only notice the 1 mistake a manager makes and not the 10 other right decisions he makes. I give him a C grade for strategy/in game management. Not terrible and not great.

66-54, when was the last time that happened? Sorta answers the question doesn't it?
