Are Penn St. and WVU players considered local as well?

Is it the school, or where they grew up?

I thought Shipley got a visit last year b/c he was from Moon TWP, No?

Stosh I'm glad somebody reads my posts  He would've been my first guy through the door ;)
I don't know that the Steelers will use a visit up on McClain or not. I'm sure the Steelers had a top rep at his pro day and they know what kind of player he is but at a visit he can spend more time with LeBeau and other defensive coaches. Also with his medical condition maybe they want their own doctor to talk to him so I guess a visit is likely.
Texas has a late pro day so I get why they brought in Thomas for a visit.
Somebody last year posted a good stat showing what % of the players that came to town for a visit actually were drafted by the Steelers so I for one would like to know how many players drafted last year were also in for official visits.

I believe it's a radius of so many miles, maybe 100?

I'm pretty positive any player from Pa. is local, as is W.Va.

...and only 2 of those guys on that list were even 1st round picks (V Davis and A Mack). So far 1 visit 1 first round pick (Earl Thomas).

This is true but nobody and I repeat nobody expected Ziggy to be available at 1:32.

In addition the same could be said for 2008 Mendy was a top 15 pick who happened to fall into the Steelers lap.

Unexpected/unexplained picks by other teams always change the complextion of the draft.

Actually there were three first-rounders that visited, including Loadholt. Delmas was the first pick of the second round and Gilbert was widely hyped as a potential first-rounder, including by Kirwan at one point, perhaps not in his last mock draft. I expect to see 3-4 more projected consensus first-rounders make visits. IMO the visits do provide a few clues about how the team perceives its needs.
