I mentioned Richard Quinn in the Miller thread, he's my second favorite blocking TE in this draft behind Pettigrew. The Trib article is wrong - Quote: The 6-4, 260-pound Quinn played sparingly at North Carolina and caught just 12 passes for 124 yards and a pair of touchdowns during his career. Not true at all, they must be assuming that off his stats or something as the guy has started for the past two seasons.

Are we suprised the Trib is wrong..lol I had read that he was an excellent blocker as well we need one of those badly and maybe he could rub off on the others..

P.S: IC, maybe you'll like the idea of selecting Lance Louis? I mean, he could play G, T, or #3 TE. He pretty much defines position flexibility. At least then it wouldn't be a pure TE pick.

Is it possible that (late-round 3rd TE) = (McHugh at FB full-time) = (no more Cary Davis) or am I just fantasizing?

Honestly, if Pettigrew was there at 1.32, I wouldn't have a single problem if we took him.
Of course won't be. Just sayin.

I would not be surprised at all if we took Pettigrew.
Pettigrew is a blocker first and foremost. His receiving abilities make him exceptional.
Funny, that sounds like a Steeler TE if I ever heard of one.

I'd rather them reup Miller personally and use the #32 on a DE or OT rather than Pettigrew.
And for those of you talking about "Steeler TEs," Miller > Bruener. The Steelers offense isn't what it was 10 years ago, note: the lack of a true FB. I'm not saying I don't want the Steelers to have a TE capable of blocking on the roster, I just think Miller is more than adequate with what he brings to the table (money on third downs, great hands, so-so blocking).
This offense is catered around Ben. I bet he'd prefer a pass catcher over a blocker any day of the week. I'd be more concerned with the Steelers finding IOL that can block (and a new RT) than bringing in a TE in the first round.
Drafting Pettigrew is a luxury that the Steelers can't afford to have with such a shoddy Oline and age issues on the Dline.
I have no problems with drafting a TE outside of Rd. 1 (not rd 2 either unless a talent falls).
