Steelers Mock 9 april 12
1. ILB: Dont'a Hightower, Alabama -- fits like an old shoe. 2. WR: Rishard Matthews, Nevada -- Hines Ward kind of fire 3. OG: James Brown, Troy -- immediate starter at LG, potential to play LT 4. DB: DeQuan Menzie, Alabama -- best slot guy in the draft, according to Cosell; Can play FS, dime S, nickel 5. QB: B. J. Coleman, QB, Chattanooga -- Great character, leadersihip. Good size, arm, tools. Raw in the footwork but looks good as a prospect 6. H-Back/TE: Derek Carrier, Beloit College -- Upgrades H-Back, provides a Red Zone target 7. DL: Akiem Hicks, Regina -- position-flexible DE/DT... makes him the best fit on the board... and, yes, I think he's going to fall this far 7. OLB: Miles Burris, San Diego State -- nonstop motor... assassin. 7. OT: James Carmon, Mississippi State -- developmental tackle with top conference experience... raw with upside 7. RB: Michael Smith, Utah State -- buried behind one of the top RBs in this draft... low mileage speed guy PFA: WRP: Dale Moss, North Dakota State -- tall possession receiver with only one year under his belt but who slid right in to success at the east-West Shrine Game DE/DT: Markus Kuhn, NC State -- OL convert who has the length and athleticism that make the sky the limit LB: Nathan Stupar, Penn State -- pass rush skills, ability to play some pass cover D. Sly with better instincts. OT: Nick Mondek, Purdue -- the opposite of Kuhn... a recent convert from DL. Agile with length. FS: Desmond Marrow, Toledo SS: Jordan Bernstein, Iowa OR Charles Mitchell, Mississippi State OR Sean Cattouse, California TE: Chase Ford, Miami OLB: Broderick Binns, Iowa, Luis Nzegwu, Wisconsin DT/DE: Charles Deas KR: Buddy Jackson

wow, so apparently I need to do some homework on Rishard Matthews because you're way smarter than me and the first thing I thought when I saw him in the 2nd instead of an OL was, quite simply, "Da fuck????"
like, what does he offer us in the 2nd that we can't get in the 6th with a guy like Junior Hemingway, other than an opportunity to bash the front office for blowing off the offensive line again?
i'll say this much, from rounds 5 on, you absolutely hit the nail on the head for several of those guys.

Love Coleman been pimping him a while. Coleman may be one of those late round gems people always talk about. Strong arm with good accuracy. I love Carrier as well. Think he replaces Johnson while upgrading the HB/TE position. Carrier is a solid athlete with soft hands measuring 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds. Carrier's Pro Day workout included a 40-inch vertical jump, 10-foot, 2-inch broad jump and 6.69 seconds during the three cone run. Carrier has awesome production; 189 Receptions for 3111 yards and 29 TDs for his Career. Carrier is a small school prospect and might need some development but I think could be the steal of your mock B2B. Hicks in the 7th? Hmmm. Love the Brown pick in the 3rd too. Could possibly land Jeff Allen [essentially the same type player] in that same round if Brown is gone too. Love the mock. Would be a great haul.

Thanks fellas.
Rishard Matthews just stood out to me on tape and in the games where I watched him. He's apparently screaming up draft boards... 64 on Brandt's list after being considered a 5-7th round pick a month ago.
I suppose you could have an alternative like: 1. ILB: Dont'a Hightower, Alabama -- fits like an old shoe. 2. OT: Bobbie Massie, Mississippi 3. OG: James Brown, Troy -- immediate starter at LG, potential to play LT 4. H-Back/TE: Derek Carrier, Beloit College -- Upgrades H-Back, provides a Red Zone target 5. QB: B. J. Coleman, QB, Chattanooga -- Great character, leadersihip. Good size, arm, tools. Raw in the footwork but looks good as a prospect 6. CB/S: Josh Norman, Coastal Carolina 7. DL: Akiem Hicks, Regina -- position-flexible DE/DT... makes him the best fit on the board... and, yes, I think he's going to fall this far 7. OLB: Miles Burris, San Diego State -- nonstop motor... assassin. 7. RB: Michael Smith, Utah State -- buried behind one of the top RBs in this draft... low mileage speed guy 7. WR: Dale Moss, South Dakota State
