Browns: 1. Quentin Coples - DE/DT - UNC 1. Kendall Wright - WR - Baylor 2. Kevin Zeitler - OG - Wisconsin 3. Bruce Irvin - OLB/DE - WVU 4. Isaiah Pead - RB - Cincinnati 4. Joe Adams - WR - Arkansas 5. Aaron Henry - S - Wisconsin 5. Dan Herron - RB - Ohio State 6. Matt Reynolds - OT - BYU 6. Trevin Wade - CB - Arizona 6. Bryan Anger - P - California 7. Chase Ford - TE - Miami 7. Jeremy Jones - CB/FS - Wayne State 7.
This defense will be nasty. Already a Top 10 unit, I'd use Bruce Irvin just like the Broncos used Von Miller last year. SLB on base downs, hand in the dirt on passing downs. Irvin and Miller had very similar measurables at the combine. Quentin Coples plays DE on base downs and slides inside on passing downs. He racked up sacks at both spots in college. Coples and Phil Taylor at DT and Irvin and Sheard off the edge on 3rd and long, I'd take that. Trevin Wade, Jeremy Jones, and Aaron Henry are good value picks for the secondary late in the draft.
On offense I think I added 3 dynamic play makers in Wright, Adams, and Pead. All have speed, and Pead/Adams are dynamic return men. I liked Adams all year, but he absolutely took over the Senior Bowl and will be a very good slot WR in the league. He reminds me of Antonio Brown in a lot of ways. With Wright and Greg Little drawing coverage away from him, Adams could shine. Dan Herron is a nice complimentary back to go with Pead and be more of the hammer. Zeitler and Reynolds form the right side of my line and with Thomas - Pinkston - Mack, that is a pretty darn good unit. You probably noticed I totally neglected the QB position. My thought process is that if I can't have an elite QB, I'm not going to settle for a mediocre one. Let me build a contender at other positions while losing a bunch of games this year with Colt McCoy and a murderers row schedule. Next year I should be in position to draft a Top 2 QB that would make me a playoff team by 2014.
