Being a football forum, if you were a blue chip prospect, would you say you'd have a better chance landing the job of your dreams if your were a recreational drinker or drug user?

According to your answer, which one is worse in this instance?

Obviously the pot, but I was just making a general statement on pot vs. booze. Whether or not the red flag is fair it's still there, that's obvious.

B2B, I HIGHLY disagree with you that college athletes smoking dope is no big deal...clearly it is or they wouldn't have testing and penalties in place if it wasn't. The kid ...agree or not... did in fact break the law and NCAA rules...that's not debatable.

Anyway, I didn't start this thread to bash Rambo for smoking dope. None of my business. I thought his excuse was REALLY lame and mildly humorous but still none of business. I can care less what the common man does with his spare time let alone a college kid having a good time on spring break. Salut have a good time enjoy your youth.

The opinions of his coaches and teammates are what matters here not the opinion of a common football fan like me or you. My point was simply that IF Rambo declares for supplemental draft I would be surprised if the Steelers would overlook the failed drug test/tests which to your point B2B is ashame because I think the kid is a super talented safety prospect that I would LOVE to have on my football. I perceive the Steelers would have an issue with failed drug tests and lying about it that's hardly my stance on it.

Anyway, I don't start threads to start moral debates...that's not me by a long shot.

This discussion is good, I think, within the narrow context of football.

There is a wiiiiiiiiide gap between being a heroin addict or crack smoker or meth user or cocaine user and taking a hit from a joint. Sorry, it's ridiculous to say they are moral equivalents.

Just like there's a wide gap between having a beer once every three weeks and being Sergio Kindle and falling down your freaking stairs.

By the way, I think I'd think twice about hiring someone who doesn't drink or doesn't smoke if he was weird about it... just like I'd think twice if he had other outlying personal beliefs, because I think it could, could be an indicator of psychological problems.

No one said the kid showed up for his job interview stoned. The kind of drug test in question reveals if you breathed it weeks ago. Imagine if it showed whether you had alcohol in that time frame or how often you looked at porn or whatever. It's made way too much of.

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me how smoking pot three weeks ago, maybe, is worse than choking and assaulting a woman, something about which the consensus seems to be that it's okay. How about forcing a woman's face to come into contact with your scrotum, as a joke? That guy is the most celebrated player in the entire NFL... GOAT at his position, supposedly.

By the way... Wilt Chamberlin, possibly greatest ever in his sport... pot smoker. #1 box office star Harrison Ford's never been onscreen un-high. Phil Jackson 2nd winningest Championship coach ever. It doesn't seem to be curtailing their careers.

B2B you've completely lost me dude. I didn't start the thread to compare crack to marijuana or say somebody isn't trustworthy just because they don't partake. Rambo used drugs and lied about it...NOTHING about that screams trustworthy to me and I doubt it would to Art Rooney II and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

okay, to bring it back to the OP... yeah, breaking the rules and lying... red flags.

As a 15 year LEO, I would vote yes to legalize weed and outlaw alcohol or at least raise the legal age of consumption to 30.

FUCK THAT.

Just because some people can't handle their alcohol doesn't mean others can't.
