Lombardi and Baldinger broke down Hightower and Upshaw. Was interesting to me because they raised the same questions I had, can't find video, but here'e recap of Hightower

Hightower

- Never asked to cover down the seam
- Never asked to cover RB out of backfield
- played with hand on ground on 3rd down and not a very good pass rusher

they said the only thing he really is, is just a good athlete, insinuating he's not a great LB and all the great players on 'bama defense made everyone look better

Where does he fit? Can he play 3rd downs? Is he just a 2 down player?

If so, that isn't worth a 1st RD pick in my book

Anyone see it? thoughts?

The “never” is what scares me…These IMO are basic LB skills, some players may be better than others but still basic skills that they should be able to do.

Never asked to cover down the seam
Never asked to cover RB out of backfield

I can deal with him not being a great pass rusher but the others not so much…I have been thinking about his coverage skills and it scares the shit out of me more and more…

Any chance that if we draft this guy, we ask him to lose 25lbs?

What about 15lbs?

I think he might look better if he was so damn huge.....

I guess I just don't see the logic in drafting someone at 250 hoping they'll be something different at 225

I wanna see game film at 225

same debate is going with with Alshon Jeffrey

Watching his highlights. He looks slow.

If it was infront of him, he destoryed it.

But he could barely get a hand on college level RB if they got to the edge.

Some LB’s we could pick up 3 round or later and still do well. No order just the names.

Korey Williams, ILB Southern Miss
Mychal Kendricks, ILB California
Carmen Messina, ILB New Mexico
Audie Cole, ILB North Carolina State
Tank Carder, ILB TCU

I keep seeing the 'thumper' references, but when I watch any film I don't see any thumping outside of 3-4 career highlight hits. He's a solid tackler, but he seems to hang out 8-10 yards downfield and let the play come to him. I'm personally not seeing a slam dunk 1st rounder, I think that Cox, Worthy, etc and some of the DL are better players at a position of lesser need.

Hightower weighs like 260lbs. He'd be playing around 240. Not that I'm nitpicking your criticism. By I think that is the ideal weight that a ILB should be at.
