Former University of Southern California defensive tackle DaJohn Harris said Wednesday that he had been prevented from performing at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis last month because doctors found a hole in his heart.

The 23-year-old NFL prospect said doctors had found the patent foramen ovale during a medical examination in Indianapolis, the Los Angeles Times reported. The condition, where a hole in the heart fails to close after birth, affects roughly 25 percent of the general population -- with some research suggesting it may increase the likelihood of having a stroke.

Harris worked out at USC's pro day on Wednesday and told reporters that since the diagnosis, he had been cleared by medical experts to continue playing football.

"I hope to be a mid-round -- second to fourth -- pick [in the draft]," Harris said. "I hope I showed that to the guys." http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/NFL- ... art-030712

The Wisconsin pro day is complete and the star of the workout was guard Kevin Zeitler, who looked tremendous in position drills. The dominant run blocker showed terrific power in bag drills and easily moved about the field during motion drills. After his workout those in attendance used words such as "outstanding" and "beastly" to describe Zeitler, whose swiftly rising up boards. The Badger senior has locked himself up as a top-45 choice and there's a feeling he could slide into the late part of Round 1.

Quarterback Russell Wilson threw the ball well during a scripted workout. His down field passes were on the money and Wilson displayed solid arm strength on all his throws. This did not come as a surprise to scouts as they expected Wilson to do well in an open space workout with no defenders trying to knock him around.

Peter Konz looked solid in limited action snapping the ball. There's a feeling in the scouting community the all-Big Ten center and his 6-foot, 5-inch frame can lineup at guard or right tackle as well as center.

Safety Aaron Henry was slightly disappointing posting times in the low 4.6-second area in the 40-yard dash and did not look prepared for the workout. Offensive tackle Josh Oglesby, who clocked in at 5.81 seconds during the combine, looked very sluggish during the workout.

Washington NT Alameda Ta'amu weighed in at 347 pounds during the team's Thursday Pro Day.
For comparison, Ta'amu was listed at 337 during his time at Washington and weighed 341 pounds at the Senior Bowl. Despite his massive size the nose tackle plays like a penetrator, possessing a quick burst off the snap. Ta'amu could be adding size in the hopes of improving his anchor versus the run when facing double teams, one of his weaker areas. The Bengals sent their defensive line coach to personally work out Ta'amu during his Pro Day drills.

FWIW, Lot of Steeler reps at the Miami pro day. Colbert, Tomlin, Haley, Butler, Montgomery, Hunt and Kreidler.

The 2012 NFL Combine has come and gone, but there is one last opportunity for pro teams to get a first-hand look at prospects prior to the 2012 NFL Draft. Individual schools hold a "Pro Day" where scouts and evaluators are invited to watch players work out on their home field.

Aaron Wilson at Scout.com reports that the Miami Hurricanes held their Pro Day this week. Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was in attendance, as was Butch Davis, a Tampa Bay Buccaneers employee who once served as coach for the Hurricanes. There were also plenty of former Miami players watching the workout. All told, 66 scouts from the AFL and CFL attended the Pro Day.

Here are some of the results from the workout, courtesy of Scout.com:

Quarterback Jacory Harris boosted his cause with a strong throwing session, and defensive end Oliver Vernon ran the 40-yard dash in 4.68 seconds.

Vernon improved his time from 4.80 seconds at the NFL scouting combine.

Offensive lineman Brandon Washington ran a 5.07 after running a 5.1 in Indianapolis.

Defensive back Lee Chambers registerd a 40 1/2 inch vertical leap and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.41 seconds.

Former Miami wide receiver Aldarius Johnson, who was dismissed from the team last season, ran a 4.40 and a 4.44. He spoke with Tomlin and multiple teams after the workout.

He posted a 9-4 broad jump and a 32 1/2 inch vertical leap.

Linebacker Sean Spence didn't take part in the bench press after pumping out only 12 reps of 225 pounds at the scouting combine, but indicated that he had a bone bruise in his left shoulder suffered during the Senior Bowl and usually does 19 reps.

Running back Lamar Miller stood on his 4.40 time at the combine, fastest among the backs in Indianapolis.

Lee Chambers posted a 40 1/2 inch vertical leap and a 4.41 time.

LaRon Byrd ran a 4.46 and Ben Bruneau ran a 4.49.

Bethune-Cookman outside linebacker-defensive end Ryan Davis ran a 4.79. The MEAC Defensive Player of the Year and All-American selection posted a 35-inch vertical leap, a 9-6 broad jump and weighed in at 259 pounds.

It seems as though there is no shortage of interest in Miami players. Perhaps the Pro Day results will translate to increased value for the players entering the Draft. http://www.sbnation.com/2012-nfl-draft/ ... draft-2012

Ohio State OT M. Adams had a solid pro day today showing good AA for a 6'7 OT, but will be over-drafted as his film points to 3rd rd pick

More than a dozen teams were on hand today for the Mississippi pro day and scouts say the star of the show was offensive tackle Bobbie Massie.
The junior lineman, who surprised many by entering the draft, stood on all of his combine numbers but participated in position drills and looked outstanding. One coach from Mississippi said Massie looked better today than at any point in his college career. That statement is not surprising considering the big tackle has been working with former All-Pro center LeCharles Bentley since December. Massie will be back on the Mississippi campus to privately work out for NFL teams during the week of March 18 and is now projected in the top half of round two.

James Carmon turned a few heads today. He measured a massive 6-6 and 330 pounds, timed 5.24 seconds in the forty and 4.17 seconds in the short shuttle and completed 22 reps on the bench. Carmon came to Mississippi State as a defensive lineman from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and totaled eight tackles while blocking a kick in 2010. He moved to the offensive line as a senior and held down the left tackle position for the Bulldogs all last year. Scouts feel his upside is enormous and fully expect Carmon to make an NFL roster in one form or another this coming season
