What I know is, that defense is going to be scary as shit this year.
The Harrison and Woodley combination might force me to take a cold shower at halftime of every game.
Troy and Clark are probably the best safety duo in the league, in my opinion. There are certainly safeties with more talent than Clark, but I can't see any of those guys working so well with Troy. He puts the fear of God into WRs coming over the deep and intermediate middle thirds of the field, allowing Troy to do his roaming. I enjoy watching those two work more than anyone.
Farrior looks like he just turned 28 years old before the season.
My biggest worry about the defense is the other IL spot. I haven't been impressed with Timmons as of yet. I've seen him misread plays, get pushed around, and, worst of all, get absolutely decleated by head-on blocks from blockers he's seen coming. It's one thing to get sealed off by an o-lineman. At least you're still taking up a blocker in that case. But to have a guy knock you backwards, onto your ass, is inexcusable for an ILB. Kerayon Fox, on the other hand, has made some great plays out there. I admittedly haven't really focused much on the individual LB play during these games, so that perception may be the result of Fox having more "highlight" moments, while Timmons may very well be doing some of the more subtle things correctly, but I haven't seen it.
Gay is an outstanding tackler from the CB spot. I still worry about Gay being on an island with some of the league's speedier #2 WR's, but from a tackling standpoint, Ike and Gay are a great pair to have.
Having Deshea line up in the nickel, where he'll hopefully be able to rely more on his ability to read plays, and less on his athleticism, is going to be a really nice luxury.
