Today's installment has Prisuta and Labriola on a vairety of subjects... first one is Mike Wallace. You can more or less ignore the words... just catch the highlight reel for Wallace that they play.

The plays they selected are an alternating microcosm of the bad Mike Wallace and the good Mike Wallace. Literally bad/good/bad/good... then bad and good just crazy. The entire argument is on display in 5 clips.

See... Where I come down is here: Every single player in the NFL makes mistakes, and even the bestest your favoritist Steeler ever of All Time has a few plays a year where they look pretty fuckin' bad/stupid.

Alan Faneca has a reel like that. Hines Ward has a reel like that.

But the reason Alan Faneca and Hines Ward were with the Steelers for better than a decade each is that the "crazy good" ALWAYS outweighs the "occasional bad".

Wallace had a rough end of the year last year because his QB got hurt and couldn't step into his throws properly. That's it really. If it isn't for Mike Wallace and his speedy speed, Antonio Brown has a much tougher time racking up his catches.

Jones I don' disagree with your conclusion... I mean, i want to re-sign him... it's just that his issues with hands and body catching and high pointing are really troubling for a #1 WR. His speed? Hell yeah! I just wonder: What will become of the guy if he gets hobbled temporarily or loses his speed?

It's like a hitter who comes to MLB and tears it up but does it despite having poor mechanics/fundamentals. Eventually, teams scout him and exploit those holes in his swing. Sooner or later, that shit catches up with everyone. I'd argue that Wallace's rather impressive success to this point has actually covered up his poor fundamentals and may make it harder for him to work at it. (in much the same way that Ben's success made him reluctant to change his fundamentals... even still resistant to it today)

Very few people have mental images of Hines Ward fumbling, or dropping a last minute catch that could have won the game, or getting his ass knocked the fuck out.

All three of those things happened. Just as surely as Jerome Bettis got rocked and lost a fumble on the 1-yard line in 2005 AFCCG.

It's true, Mike Wallace could lose some speed, but you hope his work on fundamentals pays off some day. Year 3 guy, right? Headed into his 4th year... Very hard to tell today whether that's the case.

From Wallace' side of the table- DeSean Jackson got paid large. Why shouldn't he? Makes perfect sense to me.

wallace gets too much credit for brown's accomplishments

at the end of the year brown was drawing teams #1 corner and still tearin it up

See, I've seen too much improvement from Wallace over the course of three seasons to get worried. He's improved by leaps and bounds without the benefit of a real offseason for the past three (Ben gone/lockout/holdout), and yet every year he's added something new to his game. First year it was posts and flys. Second year, he added some comebacks/curls and got more involved in the short passing game. This past year, he came along way with slants and outs, even the backshoulder play at times.

I'm hoping that increased time in the pocket due to an improved offensive line will mean less necessity for Wallace to have to fight for/high point balls, and I'm hoping that the same offensive line improvement will serve to hide Wallace's uselessness in the red zone.

Yeah, but Wallace was drawing the safety rolled over the top- the whole year. I'll let you make the argument that it's harder to catch balls matched on the #1 corner, rather than bracketed...

And Wallace didn't just benefit Brown... Where were the safeties when Heath Miller was catching ball after ball against the Pats?
