This line made me chuckle
"10 of the girls played varsity basketball for 4 different highschools"
So, in other words, you recruited a bunch of ringers to go undefeated and win states. Some people might call that an all-star team.

replace Hartings with Hartwig and I like the article a lot. I've made that mistake about 50 times.

I think that's the key- there are going to be a lot of young guys in key positions on the team this year (OL, DB, WR, RB)- it's not really a place the Steelers have been the last few years. OTOH, I agree it's nothing like the 1970s because the team has plenty of vet leadership that has proved they can win. The young Steelers of the 1970s were a ridiculously talented bunch that learned how to win all together.

Oh, and BTW, the Steelers had a lot of players show up for OTAs not because they were afraid they'd fall behind in the competition race but because Mike Tomlin asked them to step up and assume the mantle of leadership.
And like the pros versed in "the Steeler Way" that they are, they stepped up.
I don't know what's going on in Baltimore, and I don't care.

Quote: Ever wonder why a team of superstars usually doesn't win the SB or any other championship? Or how a group of misfits can win it from the 6th slot by mowing over the competition? Accountability. WRONG.. its about fit. Teams like the giants steelers and pats draft and get fa that are a fit they don't always hit but more often than not they get players who fit what profile they have. It's not that they are held any less or more accountable because of who they are. That's more leadership. It's all about fit.

I don't think anything that is going on now is different than it has been for a number of years. I don't think you had to have successfully coached a girls basketball team to understand what is going on. Maybe this guy is just now realizing it, the way he's just now able to bring himself to go beyond hinting at what Tomlin is about or having clarity of what the Steeler way is about.
We were in the Super Bowl in 2005, 2008 and 2010...how can what is going on now be akin to the early 70's when we were finally starting to put a team together that could win big for the first time? If he's just now getting clued in, he's late to the party.
What's really going on is that it looks like we might have reloaded on the fly at key positions to keep this thing rolling without the inevitable crash and burn period that accompanies so many teams in sports. Then you've completely missed the inference that the major obstacle keeping this team and Big Ben from becoming legendary over the past "number of years" has finally been removed. Now, if only Ben can see beyond where that obstacle had been... Then it was a long roundabout way to say he's glad Arians is gone.

As much of a flood of words as that thing was all entertwined with his personal journey to the mountaintop, I'd think he probably should have been able to put his finger on the point before he started.
Really, if you liked the article, bully for you. I just didn't. He takes a long time to tell us what most people fanatic enough about the Steelers to read that thing should already know at this point. That's just my opinion however, to each their own.

Not to worry guys. I questioned the Magic 8 ball today and got good news. I asked it.... Will the Steelers go to the Superbowl this year... The first two answers were inconclusive with a "Better not tell you now" and then a "Ask again later", but I was very persistent and finally got a "Signs point to yes" So with that I think we have nothing to worry about.
