He wasn't built to play the style of QB that it takes in the NFL but he could have been deadly in the Slash role. Cowher and co tried to fit the square peg in the round hole for too long and his career suffered because of it and so did the Steelers to some extent. Had they brought in or drafted another QB and kept him in the Slash role the whole dynamic of the team would have been different.

I grew up a really big fan of Kordell. So this is nice to see.
Especially since he bottomed out as a QB for the Bears.... talk about a new low...

He has been out of the league since 2005. Now he is retiring?

And maybe the Bengals end up with Ben who whips our butts (like Testerverde did with the Browns during the 80's) and any so-so QB we drafted instead of Kordell. We were very lucky to get Bradshaw in 1970 (coin flip), and Ben in 2004 (hometown Team pass on their local boy in favor of the Soulja). Kordell was very exciting to watch during his time, and the football Gods repaid us for having to endure his failures. Don't get greedy!

Kordell could have been great if developed as a WR. Phenomenal athlete. Nice to see he is getting on with his life's work.
