They just realize that J. Scott isn't going to be any competition for Adams and they need someone who can actually push him to be better. Rookies still have to earn their position, and I'm pretty sure I could beat out Scott for the LT spot. I may lack size, but my footwork is impeccable and I've been told I have what NFL draft scouts refer to as "elite burst."

They really have no one to "push" Adams at LT. Essex is the best they can offer that's currently on the roster. While Essex is decent/serviceable (not starting quality on a consistent basis) at LT Essex is limited at that position as well. Having Scott over there is futile. The guy is a bum of a LT and played much better on the right side at RT. IMO

Mediocre as Essex is, he's been in the NFL for 7 years, started 28 games, and definitely has something to teach Adams. Adams can't come in thinking he's the man and knows everything. That's just not how they bring rookies along.
I don't think it'll be any great competition -- no more than the competition between Hartwig and Pouncey. But I think Essex can definitely show the rookie a thing or two.

Well, they can't just hand it to the rookie. He has to earn it from someone.

I am sorry but their is no no way that Scott should even be allowed to play LT. The Steelers coaches can not near that position. Starks will need to be signed when Healthy just remember what happened last season.

Maxi is supposed to be meeting with the Steelers next week. Essucks and J. Scott need to get on with their life's work whatever it is.
