I hear your point, FG. I just enjoy the tailgate, and the comeraderie before the game, as well. The standards for a dui citation can be met by an individual who has consumed a couple beers over a period of two hours, depending on weight. It takes me far more than that to become "wasted."

Anyone ever watch boxing? No injuries or concussions there right? WTF? I just don't understand why Goodell wants to change the NFL into some kind of pussy league. I don't want to see people with brain injuries but at the same time these players are being paid quite a bit of money because the sport is dangerous and they know it from the get go. If they can add some pads, a chin guard, or some equipment that helps out without changing the game I'm all for it, but to eliminate a part of the game like kickoffs would just suck in a huge way.

Ask Ali about boxing and head trauma. Ask virtually any retired boxer...

No one wants to box anymore because it's not worth scrambling your brain when you can play in the NBA or NFL.

But are you assuming that anyone that would have been good enough to box at a high level would be able to play other sports at that high level?

I make a point of not having to drive to football games so I can drink what I want. I however in principle oppose DUI checkpoints anywhere and can you imagine in traffic after a footbal game putting up with that crap.A DUI checkpoint is basically saying "guilty until proven innocent" we'll check you for no good reason-with no probable cause to stop you specifically, just in case you're drunk.

Wrong. No one wants to box professionally anymore, because professional boxing has become inextricably associated with fixed fights and organized crime.

And MMA will enjoy a nice upswing in market share until the Mafia gets their claws into that, too.

Also, when boxing was in it's heyday, the MBA and NFL DIDN'T PAY SHIT. Now the shoe's on the other foot.

People have ALWAYS been willing to scramble their brains and body parts for money, and they always will be.

Well a boxer can net in one single fight more than an average NFL career pays. And where does one get a connection to say NFL and NBA is the same cognitive sentence? This thread is fragmenting into tangents. You want brain trauma? try cancer!

Well yeah, but that's maybe for one in every MILLION pro boxers! Most of them probably fight in those shows at Armories somewhere for $500...
