Eagles LT Jason Peters ruptures his Achilles again

Philadelphia Eagles left tackle Jason Peters ruptured his Achilles' tendon for a second time this offseason, according to a report from CSNPhilly.com's Derrick Gunn. The Eagles later confirmed the injury.

It's devastating news for the Eagles and a player who was voted first-team All-Pro last season. A ruptured Achilles is the worst NFL injury we can think of. Experiencing the same injury twice in one offseason is almost unimaginably unlucky.

Peters reportedly was using a device called a Roll-A-Bout to maneuver around his house. The device reportedly malfunctioned, then Peters fell on his face and ruptured the Achilles again. He's going to sue the manufacturer. He will require a second surgery. This might be the saddest story we've written this offseason.

The first injury occurred in late March, so the latest injury will set back Peters' rehabilitation. He was a long shot to play in 2012, and now any chance for Peters to suit up is out the window. The Eagles will have to rely on former Buffalo Bill Demetress Bell to take Peters' spot, with King Dunlap backing him up. The team traded Winston Justice this offseason.

It's a huge loss for Philadelphia. As great as LeSean McCoy and Trent Cole and Jason Babin were last season, we'd argue that Peters was the team's MVP.

You make millions of dollars and you use a frickin' child's stroller to get around the house? I guess his second career will be as CEO and Chairman of Roll-A-Bout LLC.

That seriously sucks though. But how is that thing any easier to use than crutches?

I agree....that does suck.

I'm curious as to, how that death on wheels malfunctioned? That apparatus just screams, "stay the eff away from me, you're likely, to go for an uncontrollable ride."

Everything about that device looks impractical. Just use crutches! And i'd love to know how one of those things can "malfunction".

Jason Peters is a huge nearly 400 pound man. If he was using that contraption as a safety precaution he deserved to get re-injured. I think my niece used to push her dollies around in one of those. Now if he was using a tonka truck it never would have happened, those things are indestructable.

I wonder if Suggs is paying attention to this as he rushes through rehab.

A rerupture of Achilles is a bad event. Throws the entire lower extremity architecture out of balance. Hip replacements are down the road.

I know several people who have used these and they worked well but they only used them on hard floors, never carpet and they were not huge 400 lb NFL players - I'm not sure how this would work for someone that big but it sounds risky (and it fact it was).
