OT Gilbert (24) Adams (22) Jon Scott (29) Colon (29) Starks (30) (FA)
OG DeCastro (22) Foster (26) Essex (29)
C Pouncey (22) Legursky (25)
Bodies OT Chris Scott (24) (PS) OT Trevis Turner (25) (PS) OT Kelvin Beachum (22) C/OG Ryan Lee (23) OG John Malecki (23)
The Steelers usually keep nine OL on the roster.
Since camp is months away and fantasies of OL dominance are sustaining me, it is time for rampant and irresponsible speculation about the future of the team's weak link of the past half-decade.
Any predictions of the final nine and the starting five? What's your dream line-up?
Who is the LT of the future? Does anyone want to see Starks come back as the starter until our future LT is groomed? If/when the time comes, is 30 year-old Starks a solution at swing tackle?
Is DeCastro a natural LOG or ROG in the NFL? Do we need DeCastro at LOG because there's no one else?
Do we move Colon inside? Any optimism that either Colon or Foster can play LOG?
Fill me in. Speculate away.

I don't think Starks will be with us this year... Sadly. I am a Starkist.
Essex will tho', because he's already signed, right?
I think your Game 1 starters are...
LT- Jon Scott LG- Foster C- Pouncey RG- DeCastro RT- Gilbert
I think your Game 8 starters are:
LT- Adams LG- Essex C- Pouncey RG- DeCastro RT- Gilbert
Just my guess...

Just my guess... I love Mike Tomlin. If Jon Scott starts at LT (absent injuries), then Tomlin should be fired. He also should be arrested for attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder along with Todd Haley and the rest of the offensive staff. Starting Scott at LT would be beyond irresponsible -- it is borderline criminal. http://www.steelersdepot.com/2011/09/jo ... mated-gif/

agreed with Zeke. Scott is a backup RT only, and at $2.2 million, he can backup somebody else's RT. we have 0 (zero) need for him this season. Good bye JScott!
what I think day 1 will look like:
Gilbert - DeCastro - Pouncey - Foster - Colon
What I think game 8 will look like:
Adams - DeCastro - Pouncey - Foster - Gilbert

Just my guess... Jon Scott should be cut let alone a day 1 starter. I like your game 8 line much much much better. Edit: In fact, I would be more comfortable starting Adams at LT from day 1 than a veteran J.Scott. You might as well throw the rookie to the wolves if you're considering starting Scott.

Jonathan Scott is scheduled to earn $2.2 million dollars this season. If Max Starks would agree to sign with us at a cheaper price than that (last year Starks played on a one year deal worth $815K) I'd take him back today and cut Scott. I don't think the coaches share that same viewpoint though, for possibly a variety of reasons.

I hope they start like this:
Gilbert. Foster. Pouncey. Decastro. Colon
Then I hope they progress to this:
Adams. Foster. Pouncey. Decastro. Gilbert

Everything I've read and heard says they are moving Foster to LG and keeping Decastro at RG so they can pull either way theoretically. They've been committing to move Gilbert to LT since last season ended, they aren't going to change that now and there's no way this staff is starting a rookie at LT at the beginning of the season if it can at all be helped.
Gilbert-Foster/Legursky-Pouncey-Decastro-Colon is my prediction to start the season.
Eventually or when Willie gets hurt, they'll put Adams at RT.

am I the only one that remembers Faneca being a RG at LSU and making the switch to LG immediately?
also, just because the FO said they were moving Gilbert doesn't mean they will. Timmons was going to be our OLB, and Pouncey was going to be our OG, remember?
Adams is a LT. That's his position. Gilbert is a RT. That's his position. Foster has never demonstrated the quickness or feet to pull, and DeCastro is a beast who also happened to major in engineering at frickin' Stanford. The playbook will be new. Blocking schemes will be adjusted. Even with the front office's inexplicable dedication to the anal bladder, he'll be injured by week 1 and this will be a moot point.
