Love it, hate them both....but slog it!! Needs to be said.....same as

http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-engl ... -asterisks

Quote:
Ravens coach John Harbaugh was a guest this morning on “98 Rock” in Baltimore in what was a lighthearted interview to promote an ALS charity run for O.J Brigance.

One part of the interview (link here) had a link to New England, and it came when Harbaugh was asked about the Saints’ bounty scandal.

In so many words, Harbaugh was asked if there was a part of him that thought if someone could get away with bending the rules, in terms of gaining an edge, that it was something worth doing.

“In the end, everything is brought before the light of day, when it’s all said and done,” Harbaugh responded. “What happens, even the thing in New England, no matter whether those things had any impact on whether they won their championships or not, they got asterisks now. It’s been stained.

"To me, it’s never worth it. You have to figure out ways to use the rules to your advantage, you have to figure out ways to make the most of everything. We have new work rules here as far as what we can do and what we can’t do with our players, and we’re going to make the most of it. What we’re finding is, ‘Man, maybe we can do some things even better than we did before, because these rules make us focus more on some things that we didn’t focus on before. You just have to make them work for you. That’s what success is in the world. You have to find a way to do things better than somebody else. But if you’re cheating, in the end, you’re going to get discredited. It’s not worth it.”

I'd give Harbaugh a +1 for that, if he wasn't such a deuche.

A step in the right direction.

Definitely needs to be said much more.  Until it becomes the common knowledge that it should be.

they should have grilled him about t.sizzle's declaration a few years back that the ravens had bounties on certain steeler players...

If you're talking about the bounties I can't see any way that can be construed as "cheating".

Ravens are dirty. They don't need bounties because trying to injure players is coached and required. In that respect, the BAL bounty is really more of a performance bonus.

Maybe what Harbaugh said is true, but would you want Mike Tomlin making this type of public comment. I sure as hell wouldn't. It really comes off as sour grapes against the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year.

"We won 3 or 4 Super Bowls last year so you could like, you know, put those Super Bowls where the asterisked ones are"

Harbaugh is now backtracking out of his comments saying they were originially misconstrued.

Does he mean the part about where he wouldn't cheat to get an edge?
