You forgot about L. Pope. He's the #2 TE.

I don't think so. Pope = Spaeth. 6'7 265 pounds of sopping wet pussy.

I beg to differ. He was signed as a F.A. for a reason.
He played for Arizona when Haley coached there. He also played for K.C. when Haley coached there. Notice a pattern?

LOL, that is one huge...nevermind.

And he gets to meet 298 pounds of Cox this fall in Pittsburgh.

Many here (myself included) are suffering from "post draft delusions of grandeur" regarding all the rookies and UDFA's right now.

If we are being truly realistic, we will be lucky if just one of our draft picks has an immediate impact this year. Pouncey was really the exception to the rule coming in and immediately establishing himself as a Probowl player. Defensive rookies on the Steelers don't tend to have a major impact their first year, with a few exceptions due to the complex playbook.

I would love to see all of these rookies come in and help lead us to an undefeated season... Just want to bring it back to reality a little.

I hear ya, Wood. But Destro has just as much immediate impact potential as Pouncey did, and if Adams can have a similar impact to what Gilbert had last year, then you've certainly got something special brewing on the line.

Combine that with second and third year players like Allen, Brown and Lewis continuing to grow into their roles in the secondary and someone like Heyward breaking out on the line on defense, and there are many reasons for optimism.

Destro :?: :?:

Reasons for optimism have to include Ta'amu, PLUS Rainey, PLUS a healthy Barron Batch, PLUS signing Mike Wallace long term :D ....

...uummm.....wait...... :?

My prediction:
By the 3rd quarter of Game 1, some will start questioning Haley's play-calling on this board
By the Bye week, some will say his volatile personality is having an impact on the team
By the Midway point, some will be claiming that "they miss the consistency of Arians"
By game 12, some will be calling for his head

...After we win the Superbowl, some will say it was "in spite of Haley"

Just sayin'.... He's an OC in Pittsburgh. ;)

   You nailed it. We should sticky this post for future reference.

I see no reason why, going forward, our rookies in this draft class can't make an immediate impact.

Wait, I see what some of you are thinking. With all of the veteran players like Hines Ward, Arnaz Battle, Max Starks, Chris Kemoeatu and Mewelde Moore on offense and with veteran players like James Farrior, Aaron Smith, Chris Hoke, Bryant McFadden, and Willie Gay on defense it will be hard for a rookie to get any playing time at all.

I see no reason that with all of the turnover that rookies and 2nd year players can't come through and have an immediate impact just as the Baltimore Ravens did last season. They jettisoned many veteran players, core players, and then proceeded to throw many young players to the wolves and let them make their mistakes early and grow. By the end of the season they captured the AFC North and came close to the Super Bowl.

The Ravens did that and other teams do that each and every year. They get immediate returns on their investment and don't wait 2 or 3 years to find out if a players can "play". With Cincy making big strides each year we can't afford to operate as we have these past 10 years, we don't have that luxury anymore.

I don't know about that. If we can operate the same way we did these last 10 years for, say, the rest of my life then I'll be pleased!

We own the Bungles. They beat us every once in a while but Pittsburgh is clearly the dominant team/ franchise. Those clowns haven't even won a playoff game in over 20 YEARS! Hard to imagine as a Steeler fan.

I'll worry about Cincy when they prove they can be a consistent winner. Their biggest problem is that they have to play us twice a year
