These stats span 5 seasons (although first season he basically didn't play at all, injury probably)

396 carries for 2464 yards, 6.2 avg, 13 TDs...or 1 TD every 30 carries

69 catches for 795 yards, 11.5 avg, 6 TDs...or 1 TD every 10 catches

Kickoff return: 18 for 454 yards, 25.2 avg, 0 TDs

Punt return:32 for 236, 7.3 avg, 2 TDs

So over his 5 season college career Rainey only scored 21 touchdowns.

Summary: I was surprised how unimpressive these numbers were. Granted he split time in the backfield with other backs but for a supposedly super explosive back his YPC aren't that impressive for college. I'm especially disappointed by the receiving numbers. I have to admit I had vision of Rainey dominating on special teams but he only has 2 career TDs as a returner. His yardage numbers no KR/PR don't look like anything special either.

Stats in a vacuum.

Vacuums suck.

Tim Tebow was his QB for 2 years.

I acknowledge that his rushing totals are heavily affected by sharing the ball with other carriers but that doesn't explain away his pedestrian receiving and special teams numbers.

They only played 2 seasons together. Doesn't explain the STs numbers either.

I don't know....11.5/catch for a back isn't unimpressive to me, nor is 6.2/carry.

I look at those numbers and I see some good potential. He won't be Ray Rice, but I think he has potential to be a nice 3rd down/change of pace back. What DOES surprise me a bit is averaging 100 carries per yer, maybe more. 80 touches in this offense would be a lot for him, so point being I don't think he's going to be asked to be anything he isn't.

tebow scored virtually every offensive touchdown for that team for those two seasons. you're just looking for shit to bitch about as usual and claiming those numbers are somehow unimpressive because of your preconceived notion that rainey was a bad pick.

Yeah, but that is only 1.5 per year.
