1. Pittsburgh Steelers: What a job by GM Kevin Colbert and his staff, who seemed to get impact players in the first five rounds. After years of relying on a patchwork offensive line, G David DeCastro (Round 1) and T Mike Adams (Round 2) join C Maurkice Pouncey and LT Marcus Gilbert on what may be an elite group this season. LB Sean Spence (Round 3) and 348-pound NT Alameda Ta'amu (Round 4) look like starters no later than 2013. And RB Chris Rainey (Round 5) is a home-run threat the team didn't have in its backfield or return game.

ESPN's Jamison Hensley rates Steelers best in division: http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/47218/afc-north-draft-analysis-4Quote: It was no surprise that the Steelers had the best draft in the AFC North. There was one move, however, that inspired a double take -- drafting Ohio State offensive tackle Mike Adams in the second round. The Steelers don't usually take players with character issues and have little patience with behavioral problems on the team (see: Santonio Holmes). General manager Kevin Colbert acknowledged that Adams was off Pittsburgh's board after he failed a drug test at the NFL combine and the reportedly lied to the team. The Steelers only considered him again after Adams met some stipulations, which included counseling. Although Adams has the look of a prototypical left tackle, his issues caused him to slip to the 56th overall pick. He is the biggest question mark in a strong draft for the Steelers. Pittsburgh landed the best guard in the draft (David DeCastro), a future starting nose tackle (Alameda Ta'Amu) and an electric playmaking running back (Chris Rainey). Perhaps that's the reason why the Steelers thought they could take such a chance on Adams.

[Edit: I'd better learn how to write and say the guy's name, I guess.]

I can't believe the low marks for oakland's draft. Considering they had no 1st 2nd or regular 3rd pick... They had a really, really good haul. I don't love Bergstrom but I really like Stupar, Criner, and you know how I feel about Burris. Also, what a crop of UDFAs! Derek carrier Aaron Henry. domenuque hamilton. thomas mayo lucas nix.
I think their draft class and UDFAs will be top 3-4 in this draft year, once it all plays out.

i'd put the vikes #1. childs would have gotten top-10 pick consideration if he hadn't been injured; kalil, harrison smith, and josh robinson are flat studs right out of the gate. 4 1st-round caliber guys. ridiculous.
i don't understand how the ravens draft class isn't universally mocked. bengals class is basically 100% 3rd-round grade players.

My Top 5 draft classes: 1. Cincinnati - best overall haul of talent of any draft class 2. Pittsburgh - best overall value vs draft slot for any draft class 3. Philly - good talent and value. Plus Cox can really penetrate the gap, and explodes through the hole. He is an up and down player however. 4. Indy - I love how they added a ton of talent around Andrew Luck 5. Chargers - Ingram was a steal, Ladarius Green is a perfect fit and Reyes/Taylor/Molk all could start for them

Kiper listed his five or six best on Mike and Mike... None of which were the Steelers. I know everyone LOVES bleacherreport They gave us an A+ Quote: Grade: A+
Summary
For years people have complained that the Pittsburgh Steelers don't take drafting offensive linemen seriously enough. They changed that perception in 2012 by drafting two starters in the first two rounds, solidifying their offensive line with Maurkice Pouncey and Marcus Gilbert already in place.
Pittsburgh could look to go back to a run-first offense with these selections, but it went back to defense in Rounds 3 and 4 when it found a ball-hawking linebacker in Sean Spence and a huge nose tackle with great upside in Alameda Ta'amu.
Ho-hum...just another great draft for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It is nice for once to have a draft class that the pundits lavish praise upon instead of being overlooked and ignored.
I think the USA today guy misunderstands where we are playing Spence, he's not starting in 2013 ahead of Timmons.
