Wolfley raves about Colon, says he was killing people last camp...says trip to pro bowl was ahead. Who knows, if he can stay healthy, maybe he will show US something this year...

Tomlin is open to the idea of moving Colon to guard. I don't know enough to say how he'd perform there, but our best 5 would, on paper, seem to be Gilbert-DeCastro-Pouncey-Colon-Adams. Not a bad 5.

I love Wolf, love listening to his opinions and insight, and would love for this(Colon statement) to be true. But he (along with Tunch) is a notorious homer, especially when it comes to the O-line. I would take this with a huge grain of salt!

He needs to see the snap and being inside should shield some of his in-play shenanigans from the officials. No tackle is good enough to compensate for killing so many drives.

It's "conventional wisdom" you don't start a rookie on your QB's blindside. Wait a minute, like starting rookie QB's that thinking is largely gone. But two rookies?!?
I think this is another case where if the two rookies are your best (and they likely will be), they start. If Adams is the more natural LT, I don't think it makes sense to move GIlbert there for a year. I suppose it will come down to Gilbert/Adams/Colon fighting for the two starting tackles (or at least until Colon gets hurt).
IMO, if Colon can't clearly win the job then he competes for RG or he is a back-up (because he can't really be cut because of his salary). You could argue not having played in two years it will take time for him to regain form (hard to say that with a straight face), but in comparison to a 1st and 2nd year tackle, where's the upside there?
I don't know. I think if Adams is on par with those two I'm looking to lock-in my OL of the future and let them grow and gel. That would be Adams/Decastro/Pouncey/Foster/Gilbert. You would take some early lumps, and I understand the risk, but come playoff time I think that group would be really solid.

If I recall, Colon was strictly a guard in college. He was only moved to tackle after being drafted as they liked his footwork/athletisism. I think a move back to guard is possible.

Think of a line with:
LT: Adams LG: DeCastro C: Pouncey RG: Colon RT: Gilbert
That would be 2 x first and 2 x seconds round picks starting. Nice foundation and could be one of the best in the league.

Questions about Adams dedication and maturity will lead to him having to go even further that the extra mile to earn a starting spot. They are going to want to see how bad he really wants it so that he appreciates it that much more. If you give him the starting job too easily than I don't know if you are doing him any favors long term.
